Fake Doctor Scammed Women on Dating Sites in Elaborate Scheme (MedPage Today)

A man who tricked 30 women into believing he was a doctor and then stole $1.3
million from them was given a 9-year sentence in federal prison. By using more
than six distinct online dating services and 13 names, Brian Brainard
Wedgeworth, 47, who was dubbed the “Casanova Scammer” by law enforcement and the
media, was able to meet women, win their trust, and steal their money.
Wedgeworth entered a plea of guilty to 25 counts of money laundering, aggravated
identity theft, wire fraud, and mail fraud.
