PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSOR!

Peel Region Organizing Meeting to Protect Our Local Public Hospitals from Ford's
Plan to Dismantle & Privatize

The Ford government announced their plans to expand and build new for-profit
surgical/diagnostic hospitals and clinics. At the same time, the Ford government
has left our public hospitals with operating rooms that are closed in the
evenings, on weekends, for days and months at a time, or even permanently, due
to inadequate funding and staffing to run them.

Now, after having worsened the staffing crisis, Ford is launching privatization
of their core services as if it is a “solution”. It is the old formula: create a
crisis and privatize. Our local public hospitals have been built on the
donations and work of our communities over the last century. They are not Ford's
to dismantle and sell off to for-profit corporations.

We are going to be holding organizing meetings across Ontario and building a
massive campaign to protect our local public hospitals. Join us to help organize
a fightback to protect our local hospitals. Please share widely- invite everyone
you know to build the biggest fight back ever!

Please register below and help spread the word. Event images attached below.

Topic: Peel Region Organizing Meeting
Date & Time: Monday, March 6th at  6 pm

Unifor members and leadership at the Northern Ontario Leadership Meeting (NOLM)
joined other unions in Thunder Bay to protest the Ford government cuts and
privatization of health care. Check out the video and pictures of the health
care rally on Facebook. “Embrace Equity” is the theme of Unifor’s International
Women’s Day statement this year. Unifor focuses on empowerment of Black youth
during Black History Month. B.C. and Alberta release their budgets.

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed
on March 21. In 2023, our message is: “Our thoughts, our words, our actions.”
Order your posters by March 7, 2023, and show solidarity for racial justice.

in Thunder Bay.

OUTSIDE VOICES

Here’s Why Ford Is Betting on LFP Batteries
(Autoweek) The goal is to offer a less expensive battery with a lower energy
density for shorter-range models, but one that has unique performance
characteristics such as a higher tolerance for faster and more frequent
charging, as well as a higher tolerance for being fully charged.

(MotorBiscuit) Even with some serious competition, the Maverick managed to earn
praise from Consumer Reports, getting named in the 10 Top Picks of 2023.
According to the Detroit Free Press, it was actually the only truck from the
Detroit Three to make the list. So that is a pretty impressive feat for a
unibody pickup truck.
