>> EA FEEDBACK RESPONSES FROM INDUSTRY ON BIOWASTE PERMITS
The EA has provided a summary of the responses that they received from industry
concerning a review of permit conditions to improve environmental outcomes.
>> VEGWARE GUIDANCE ON ACCEPTING COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING INTO YOUR SITE
Vegware, one of the leading producers of compostable packaging has provided this
visual guidance for composting sites to assist them with identifying what to
look for on compostable packaging.
>> REA RESPONSE TO EFRA COMMITTEE'S INQUIRY ON THE STATE OF PEATLAND IN ENGLAND.
EFRA seeks views from industry into how peatland in England has been degraded,
the environmental impacts and how it can be restored.
>> EA RELEASES BRIEFING NOTE ON QUALITY PROTOCOLS
The EA is going to review all thirteen Quality Protocols and decide whether they
are still fit for purpose. This work will be carried out over the next 12 - 18
months with compost, digestate and poultry litter ash QPs being the first 3 to
be reviewed.
>> UK TO LEAD GLOBAL INNOVATION IN SUSTAINABLE PLASTICS IN DRIVE TO NET ZERO
Businesses are expected to jointly invest up to £149 million, alongside a £60
million government investment, to help fight the global battle against single
use plastics. Funding could be used to find ways to cut waste in the supply
chain, develop new business models and create new sustainable recyclable
materials. This could include using plants instead of oils to make plastic,
which will help reduce their carbon impact.
