AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE & YELP

December 29, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

You would think that if you’re a company that attempts to portray itself as
caring and concerned about your members that you would be concerned and care
about all of the negative reviews that you receive on-line.

Well, if you’re Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance out of De Pere, Wisconsin you
don’t think that way. Ameriprise Insurance Company has 16 one star (NEGATIVE)
reviews on Yelp and they don’t take the time to respond to one review.

Come on Ken Ciak, you’re the Captain of this ship.  At the very least you’re the
President and CEO of Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance.  Take control of the
reins and start providing the customer service that your clients deserve.

AMERIPRISE INSURANCE AND CHRISTMAS VACATION

December 25, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

This year for Christmas I felt like Clark W. Griswold and I pictured Ameriprise
Auto & Home Insurance CEO, Kenneth J. Ciak as Frank Shirley (as portrayed by the
wonderful Brian Doyle-Murray) from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.  Much
like Clark, I picture Ken Ciak sitting in his (fictional) “happy holiday slumber
home on Melody Lane” living the good life, smoking a $40.00 Cuban cigar, and
drinking his eggnog from a Marty Moose mug.  While the good people like Clark
Griswold and myself are left at Christmas with a membership to the “Jelly Of The
Month Club” while we were expecting a new swimming pool.

Similar to Clark his family, my wife and I were expecting our home to be fully
repaired and restored to the original condition it was before we experienced the
devastation of water damage. Our home was repaired thanks to the incredibly
talented work of our contractor. What was left devastated was our wallet. The
fine people at Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance that work for President and
CEO Ken Ciak assured us that we would only have to pay a $500.00 (five hundred
dollars) deductible. To date we have paid OVER $9,000.00 out of our own pockets.

So to you, Mr. Kenneth J. Ciak, I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah,
and remember…Ameriprise SUCKS (allegedly)!

HOW TO “REACH” AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE: WECARE@AMPF.COM

December 24, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

According to the Social Media pages (Facebook and Twitter) that Ameriprise Auto
and Home Insurance has you’re supposed to send an e-mail to WeCare@AMPF.com and
a wonderful Ameriprise employee is supposed to assist you.

I’m sure that the employees are wonderful and good meaning people.  It is my
experience that they (the employees monitoring Ameriprise’s social media
accounts) aren’t empowered to really help you.  From what I’ve encountered they
simply “shuffle” your paperwork along the chain (hopefully up the chain).

According to an article in Forbes every single employee of The Ritz Carlton
Hotels is empowered to spend up to $2,000.00 (two thousand dollars) to make any
guest feel 100% satisfied with their stay.

Now THAT’S customer service!  Ken Ciak, President and CEO of Ameriprise Auto and
Home Insurance, are you paying attention?  Take a lesson out of the playbook
from The Ritz Carlton and empower your employees with the ability to do the
right thing.

Until then, remember, Ameriprise SUCKS (allegedly)!

WHAT DOES “REPLACEMENT COST COVERAGE INSURANCE” MEAN WHEN DEALING WITH
AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE

December 22, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

Apparently it doesn’t mean what a normal, reasonable, and rational person would
think it means.

Replacement Cost Coverage is meant to pay you the amount of money that it would
cost to replace an item.  Say for example last year you bought a sofa for
$2,000.  This winter a pipe burst in your home and completely destroyed your
sofa.

Well, to replace the sofa today Macy’s wants $2,100 for the same sofa.  With
Replacement Cost Insurance your insurance company (hopefully you don’t have
Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance) is supposed to pay you the full $2,100 to
“replace” the sofa.

In my personal experience with Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance they present
to you the replacement cost value of an item.  They will even include the
appropriate sales tax for said item.  THEN (this is awesome, not) they make you
take a 50% depreciation.  They are double dipping.  They are having their cake
and eating it too.

What they are doing (in my case) is giving me Actual Cash Value.  Even thought
my policy CLEARLY states that I have REPLACEMENT Cost Coverage. Actual Cash
Value is how much an item is worth today.  You know that 42 inch Samsung plasma
television you bought five years ago for $3000?  The Actual Cash Value of said
television is about $250 today.  Right?  Because today someone can go buy a 55
inch Samsung LED Smart TV for $750 at Costco.  With an Actual Cash Value policy
your insurance company (again, I hope you don’t have Ameriprise Auto and Home
Insurance) is only going to give you $250 because that is all the television is
worth.

Here’s a link to a great info-graphic from the Texas Department of Insurance
explaining the difference between “Replacement Cost Coverage” and “Actual Cash
Value” insurance.

Learn from my horrific experience with Ameriprise…find yourself a different and
better insurance company to protect you, your family, and your possessions.

Remember, Ameriprise SUCKS (allegedly)!

CANCEL YOUR AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE POLICY TODAY

December 20, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

Cancel your policy today and start saving money, be happier, and improve your
looks.  Okay, maybe all of those things aren’t going to happen but I can tell
you personally that I am happier and I’m saving money.

When I learned first hand that Amerprise Auto and Home insurance out of De Pere,
Wisconsin sucks I called around and found out about a wonderful insurance
company called, Country Financial Insurance.  Country Financial was able to
DOUBLE my insurance coverage for both of my cars and my home, they gave me a $1
million dollar umbrella policy, and I saved $10.00 a month on my insurance.

Plus I have a personal representative (agent) that will work on my behalf.  He
has my best interest at heart because his business relies on maintaining happy
customers.

About two years ago I asked Amerpirse Auto and Home Insurance about the
possibility of getting an umbrella policy with them.  They assured me that an
agent/representative would call me back the next day.  Two years later and I’m
still waiting.  Amerprise, don’t bother calling me back now…I’ve switched my
insurance to a better company, Country Financial.

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING WHEN DEALING WITH AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE COMPANY

December 18, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

When you’re dealing with a (allegedly) difficult company like Ameriprise Auto
and Home Insurance out of De Pere, Wisconsin, be sure to document everything.

Take copious amounts of notes.  Write down the date, the time, and the name,
phone number, and extension number of the people that you are speaking with.  Be
as detailed as you can in your notes about the conversation(s) that you have
with the adjuster, agent, claims manager.  Ask for their e-mail address, their
fax number, and an alternate number to reach them at if you need to.

Remember (allegedly) it is the responsibility of the people that work for
insurance companies like Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance to save the company
money.  I interpret that to mean that they (the insurance company) wants to be
able to collect the highest monthly premium possible from you and pay out the
least amount of money on your claim.

That’s why pictures and video are so important.  Take pictures of your home,
car, boat, motorcycle, recreation vehicle, condominium, apartment now…before
there is damage.  Take as many pictures of everything that you can.  Show your
property and belongings in their pristine state.  Be sure to time stamp your
photos.  Then, when you experience a loss (heaven forbid) take pictures
documenting the damage.  This way you can give your insurance company a clear
‘picture’ of the comparison and contrast.

Remember the Boy Scout motto – “Be Prepared!”  It will really help you in
dealing with insurance companies like Ameriprise.

DO NOT ALLOW AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE TO TALK YOU OUT OF YOUR PIP
COVERAGE

December 17, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

What is PIP?  PIP is Personal Injury Protection.  In my state (Washington) PIP
comes standard on all automobile insurance policies.  Sometimes insurance
companies, like Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance will talk into signing away
your rights for PIP.

That’s right, you actually have to sign away your rights.  There is a form that
your insurance company will have you fill out, sign, and date saying that you
are declining Personal Injury Protection.

Why would I ever sign away my rights to PIP?  Great question!  It’s because the
person working for the insurance company will ask you, “Do you have health
insurance?”  Your answer will be of course, “Yes!” because you are participating
in the Affordable Health Care Plan.  The insurance employee will then tell you
something akin to, “Well, you know, you can’t have ‘double coverage’.  SO, let’s
just have you sign this piece of paper saying that you do not require PIP
because you have health insurance.”

Slow down there a second, Bucko!  ‘Double Coverage’?  I DO NOT know of ANY
‘health insurance’ plans that cover dental work.  Have you ever been in a car
accident and lost some teeth?  A lot of people have.  If you don’t have ‘dental
insurance’ you are going to have to pay for the repairs to your mouth, jaw, and
teeth out of your own pocket.  If you had PIP it would be 100% covered.

Have you ever been in a car accident and suffered muscle damage?  A lot of
people have.  Guess what?  A large majority of health insurance plans DO NOT
cover massage therapy OR physical therapy.  Guess who has to pay for this
treatment?  Ding – Ding – Ding!  Winner – Winner!  That’s right, you have to pay
out of your own pocket for this treatment.  If you had not declined your
Personal Injury Protection your massage therapy and physical therapy would have
been covered at 100%.

Again, don’t let anyone ever talk you out of getting Personal Injury Protection.

THERE ARE BETTER INSURANCE CHOICES THAN AMERIPRISE AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE

December 16, 2014 SiteOwner Leave a comment

After 19 years I canceled my auto and home insurance policies with Ameriprise
Insurance Company.  In those nineteen years I was a satisfied client.  I
referred friends and family members to Ameriprise on many occasion.

The reason that I was a satisfied client/customer of Ameriprise is because I
never had to file a claim with them.  Once I had to file a claim with them I was
no longer satisfied.  It is my opinion that when Ameriprise makes blanket claims
such as, “we have hundreds of thousands of clients who are highly satisfied with
our products and the outstanding customer service we provide” (this comment was
posted on Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance’s Facebook page on Thursday,
September 04, 2014 at 11:22A.M. – https://www.facebook.com/AmeripriseAutoHome)
the reason they can say this is because I am certain that 99.9% of these
individuals have ever had to file a claim with Ameriprise.

A better sense of how people feel is to ask them how happy they are AFTER they
have to file a claim with Ameriprise.  Search Google for “Ameriprise Auto and
Home Insurance Company Sucks” and you will see page after page of unhappy,
dissatisfied, and disgusted former customers.

Do yourself a favor…do some research, do your due diligence, ‘vet’ out any
insurance company that you are thinking of switching to.  When I signed up with
Ameriprise in 1995 there was no Google, Yelp, Facebook, or Twitter to research a
company.

Since my fiasco with Ameriprise I have done my due diligence and found Country
Financial Insurance Company to be hands down the best place I could give my
business to.  Country Financial was able to DOUBLE my coverage, provide me with
a $1,000,000.00 Umbrella Policy, AND lower my premiums for my auto and home
policy.

Again, do you research…there are many companies out there that are much better
than Ameriprise.
