Make it shredded in the slow cooker with BBQ sauce. Low carb and keto friendly! CAN YOU MAKE PULLED PORK WITH A PORK LOIN? Definitely!! I think this is the easiest way to make pulled pork...especially with the slow cooker. Slow cooking the pork loin helps it stay moist and it is so tender. This Crock Pot Pork Loin has so much flavor thanks to the easy BBQ Rib rub that I shared a few months ago. You could also use a store bought rub to make this even easier! I love using my crock pot to make an easy BBQ pulled pork. No need to fire up the grill or the smoker! I also love using pork loin because it is so affordable! CAN I USE A PORK TENDERLOIN? I would not recommend using a pork tenderloin for this recipe because a tenderloin is an amazingly tender piece of meat and cooking it in the slow cooker is not doing it justice! It is much better seared and then baked until it is a medium internal temperature of 145F. HOW TO MAKE PORK LOIN PULLED PORK IN THE SLOW COOKER The hardest part of this recipe is lugging out your slow cooker. We place the pork loin into the slow cooker and cover it with BBQ rub and rub it in. Then flip it over and cover the other side and rub it in. Now we just place the lid and set it to cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. The meat will literally fall apart when it is finished. I like to shred the meat right in the crock pot with the juices to keep this crock pot pork loin extra moist. Most pork loins are around 5 pounds so I like to make the pulled pork and then freeze half of it for future recipes. You can freeze it for up to 6 months in a freezer safe container. After it is all shredded, top it with your favorite BBQ sauce. Then you can serve it however you want! I love to have mine with some crispy keto coleslaw on top. So good! Into easy Crockpot meals? It produces liquid and once you shred the pork the liquid just incorporates itself in the pork. You really don't even need to add bar-b-que sauce it is so delicious without it. I added it just because I love sauce. Making it again tomorrow. Buy Hoagie rolls, throw some coleslaw on it and WOW! Reply 2. Sasha says November 04, 2022 at 5:22 pm I had a 5 pound porkloin. Cooked on low for 8 hours in crockpot and it was not at all to the point of fall apart tender. Parts still had a tight cover of thin fat, yet even cutting the fat off it didn’t shred easy. Any ideas why?? Reply * jenniferbanz says November 07, 2022 at 1:50 pm Different thickness of meat will take longer. It needed a bit more time. Reply 3. Sarah says August 31, 2022 at 10:30 am Will this work with a frozen pork loin? Reply * jenniferbanz says September 12, 2022 at 10:55 am You would need to thaw it first. Frozen meats are not recommended for the crock pot. According to Slow Cookers and Food Safety guidelines, you should always thaw meat or poultry before putting it in a slow cooker. Reply 4. Stephanie Williams says August 17, 2022 at 12:10 pm I literally just goto Aldi and grab a pork loin roast for about $8.00 and I cut it in half and save the the other half for another dinner usually I make the 2nd half with mashed potatoes and gravy and a veggie for another dinner and my husband doesn't even realize that it's the same cut of pork, so I make the most out of the roast especially with the crazy inflation we are experiencing. Anyhow I cook it in the slow cooker the bbq pork which takes 5 minutes of prep for me I use a McCormick brown sugar bourbon as my rub because I'm always in a rush so for me it's easier and then I set it an forget it for 4 he's on high. I buy rolls for the pulled bbq pork to serve it on and make baked beans ,again I buy beans already prepared lol I'm a busy gal so I cheat I buy readymade slaw which for a few dollars at Aldi u can add your mayo to the pre cut Cole slaw mix they sell in produce it's so easy and so delicious once it's done. I love this meal and I never use slow cooker enough so this is a great way to get use out of it and u would think but the flavor that I spent hours of time preparing this meal. Reply 5. Dianne Acri-Clinton says August 05, 2022 at 4:05 pm Wow! This turned out better than I had expect as I used to make pulled pork with liquid, but never again. This will be my go to recipe from now on. So easy, and SO GOOD! I even left a few ingredients out from the rib but it turned out perfect!! Reply 6. Ashley G says July 19, 2022 at 8:04 pm Best pulled pork I’ve ever had; the rub is fantastic! Reply 7. Patrick McNees says June 29, 2022 at 5:21 am Add chopped onion to bottom of crock and top of dry rubbed roast. Sliced fresh jalapenos will add an extra kick to the finished product also. Reply 8. Susie Jeroski says May 03, 2022 at 1:11 pm This looks delicious, I’m going to make it tomorrow. I went ahead and made the BBQ rub recipe you have the link for and I have a 6 pound pork loin roast. Do I use the entire amount of the BBQ rub? I don’t want to scrimp but also not overdue it. Your help appreciated! Thanks so much. Reply 9. Katie says March 16, 2022 at 6:01 am Turned out wonderful. I did use real brown sugar in the bbq rub since we're not low carb. I didn't have quite enough time to cook on low the whole time so I did 1 hour on high and 6 on low. Meat fell apart and flavor was great even without bbq sauce. Definitely going to make again. Reply 10. Shiela Bostelmann says January 18, 2022 at 12:43 pm Just made this rub, just put in crockpot. I cannot wait to eat dinner tonight! : ) will let you know later how I liked this. Thanks. Reply 11. Joanne Hunt says October 04, 2021 at 2:48 pm Super simple and unbelievably tasty! Reply 12. Christopher Zarza says September 27, 2021 at 8:20 am Excellent recipe. So inexpensive and delicious. Thank you. Reply 13. Jill says September 07, 2021 at 8:11 pm BEST pulled pork I’ve ever eaten. Made as directed and it fell apart when I touched it with a fork. So flavourful and perfect texture. Didn’t have that “slow cooker flavour” at all. 10/10 thank you!! Reply 14. Vicky says June 08, 2021 at 12:43 pm I’m making this now for my birthday tomorrow! It seems like it’s going to be AMAZING! Reply 15. Drew says May 11, 2021 at 10:15 am This was delicious!!! Had a 1.5 lb pork loin and cooked for 8 hours on low. Didn't add and sauce and it was so good! Definitely will be remaking this often! Thank you! Reply 16. Lisa Petersen says April 16, 2021 at 8:17 pm I noticed there is liquid in the bottom of your crockpot when the loin is finished cooking. You started shredding it. Did you put water in the crockpot to cook in? Or is this just juices from the meat as it cooked? This looks amazing and I plan to make it soon! This low carb eating is new to me and I have been a little depressed about it. Felt like I was going to be deprived but have found you and I am feeling much better about this low carb adventure I am starting. Wish me luck.... Reply * jenniferbanz says April 21, 2021 at 10:43 am Yes, it's the liquid from the meat. You've got this! Reply 17. Tara says February 13, 2021 at 6:15 pm Awesome recipe! I added my BBQ sauce to the crock pot about 30 mins before serving. Very tasty recipe! Reply 18. Kelly says February 07, 2021 at 9:46 am OMG, this was amazing! I only had season salt so I lightly sprinkled that on both sides of a 3.5 lb pork loin and cooked 8 hours on low. We don’t like the extra fat so just scraped that off after cooking and then pulled the pork. We served it without sauce (because that’s how we do it in North Carolina) and let people add their choice of sauce at the table. I highly recommend Lillie’s Smoky Barbecue Sauce (Memphis sweet) or Lillie’s Carolina Barbecue Sauce (Western North Carolina more vinegary sauce). The pork was delicious alone but these sauces put it over the top. Reply 19. Mary L Kessinger says January 30, 2021 at 12:17 pm Tried this last month and was sooooo good!! Love using a leaner cut of meat. Making it again right now! Thanks! Mary Reply 20. Linda says January 18, 2021 at 7:45 pm I have a piece of pork loin just 1 1/2 pounds. How long would I cook on low in crock pot for shredded pork? Reply * jenniferbanz says January 22, 2021 at 12:11 pm Same amount of time Reply 21. Charity says November 24, 2020 at 3:55 pm This is a great recipe. My husband and I both loved it and we are making it again for Thanksgiving. We have a total of 10 people that will be at our house. Reply 22. Capt. Melanie says November 24, 2020 at 11:20 am Didnt you have a recipe for texas homemade barbecue sauce , using ketchup on here at one time? I've been scearching for it Reply 23. Shiela Bush says October 06, 2020 at 10:54 am sorry i said i had wrong. i have a bone in boston butt roast. can that be done in slow cooker? or too greasy? Reply * jenniferbanz says October 12, 2020 at 9:18 am That would be perfect for the slow cooker as the fat will melt after cooking for a long time Reply 24. Teri Salsberry says September 29, 2020 at 8:10 pm Can you make this with pork roast? Im trying it tonight. Reply * jenniferbanz says October 02, 2020 at 9:56 am Definitely! Reply 25. Dayna says April 04, 2020 at 9:14 am A m a z I n g!! I’ve always made this recipe with a pork butt...and everytime I’ve said I think a lion would be better! What a relief to find this recipe and it’s even more amazing that it’s sooo delicious !! What a success! Thank you for sharing Reply 26. Melissa Radwancky says February 23, 2020 at 2:20 pm I just made this and I have to say its scrumptious! Honestly I myself think the dry rub recipe makes the dish. I barely used any of the barbecue sauce ( I use the same sauce as stated) Whole famile enjoyef..ty! Reply 27. Lauren says January 08, 2020 at 8:49 am How long would you cook it from frozen?? I freeze my meat after I get groceries and put the meat into the crock frozen. 8hrs low? 6hrs high?? Reply * jenniferbanz says January 08, 2020 at 9:09 am It really is not recommended to cook meat from frozen in the slow cooker as there's the risk of harmful bacteria contaminating the meat before it reaches a safe temperature. Reply 28. Holly says January 05, 2020 at 10:30 am What is the recipe for the rub? Reply 29. Jimmy says December 01, 2019 at 9:05 pm Would you recommend increasing the cook time for an 8 lb pork loin? Reply * jenniferbanz says December 01, 2019 at 9:16 pm I think 8 hours on low should still be plenty of time Reply * Jimmy says December 02, 2019 at 10:06 am Alright, thank you, I will give it a try and test it! 30. Del says November 10, 2019 at 7:05 pm Has anybody tried adding a liquid to the recipe? (Ex. Broth, soda, water... etc) Reply * jenniferbanz says November 11, 2019 at 10:14 am You could but the pork releases a lot of liquid while cooking so it really isn't necessary Reply * Jennifer says January 01, 2020 at 1:01 pm Do we drain the juice then shredded and add bbq or shred with juices included? * jenniferbanz says January 01, 2020 at 2:26 pm I shred with the juices but you could take it out and shred without the juices, then add some back to keep it moist. 31. Carol says October 25, 2019 at 2:39 pm This is delish!!!!!! Perfect rub, so tasty. Happy to have found this recipe, and the fact it is made in a crock pot even better? Reply 32. Cheryl says October 05, 2019 at 5:09 pm Just wow! I used your BBQ rub recipe which I will now make a go to. No need for BBQ sauce, it isn't soooooo good. Thank you for sharing. Reply 33. Heather says July 05, 2019 at 1:27 pm I have a one lb pork would you recommend doing this recipe in thirds? What about cooking time? Reply * jenniferbanz says July 06, 2019 at 8:32 am Yes, I would cut the recipe in thirds. I would check it after 2 hours on high and see if it will shred easily. Reply 34. Taylor says June 27, 2019 at 9:41 pm Do you have to put any water in the crockpot? Reply * jenniferbanz says June 29, 2019 at 9:20 am Nope! The pork will release a lot of liquid Reply 35. David L says May 27, 2019 at 10:16 am Mixing the rub was most ofvthe work. Too all of 10 minutes. 8 hours on low and the loin fell apart on its own. Flavors blended with bbq sauce perfectly. Just crazy easy and really good. Reply * jenniferbanz says May 29, 2019 at 11:41 am So glad you liked it! Reply * Kelly says December 19, 2020 at 6:49 am I love an easy, delicious crockpot recipe and will be trying this today. Do you remove any of the fat from the pork loin before cooking? Samantha says March 03, 2019 at 8:50 am Do you add any vinegar or water when cooking it? Reply * jenniferbanz says March 03, 2019 at 1:50 pm It's not needed. The pork will release a little of liquid as it cooks. Reply 39. Lynne says February 26, 2019 at 10:48 pm Thanks for the great recipe! Do you have the recipe for your rub?
