LAKE CENTRAL SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES $149K FOR BIBICH CONSTRUCTION COST

The costs are related to additional work related to the project, including
earthwork, asphalt paving, electrical work and roofing.




MEXICAN CULTURE COMES ALIVE IN GUADALUPE FEAST

ST. JOHN – A 16th-century apparition to a native Mexican came alive Saturday
with the annual observance of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.




UPDATE: 93RD AVE. TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL THURS., POLICE SAY

St. John police said 93rd Avenue at Keilman Street is currently closed to all
traffic due to a gas main breakage.




LAKE CENTRAL CHEER CONTINUES TO PUT ITSELF ON THE MAP

The Lake Central cheer team earned the Indiana Cheer Championship state title
for the coed division for the first time since 2012 on Nov. 4 at New Castle High
School.

The Lake Central School Board approved a board reorganization plan and a
teachers' contract for the current school year during its Monday night meeting.




ST. JOHN MAN FOUND DEAD IN HAZEL CREST, IL: RECORDS

The man was identified as 58-year-old Camerino Hernandez-Chavez. The report
states that the man was found dead at a Hazel Crest residence.  




ST. JOHN MAN NABBED ON DRUG CHARGES, SHERIFF SAYS

Officers state they confiscated 120 ecstasy pills, 8.5 pounds of marijuana and
two handguns from 48-year-old Ricky Biggs' home.

Larry Veracco raised the idea of converting the school board seat reserved for
unincorporated St. John Township residents to an at-large position.

The Indiana Supreme Court won't intervene in a dispute over the price to be paid
for 8.65 acres along U.S. 41 taken by the town of St. John in 2014 for

St. John Officer Philip J. Fabian, 33, was charged Wednesday with felony

Jacob Z. Christoff, 34, formerly of Crown Point, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Lake

As of Dec. 31, LCSC had $45.7 million in the bank as opposed to $46.8 million on

ST. JOHN FACES HIGHER PAYMENT IN PROPERTY-TAKING LAWSUIT

The town still can ask the Indiana Supreme Court to consider reviewing the
appellate decision, and likely will do so with so much money at stake.

The Town Council will take a final vote on re-establishing the Park Board during
its next meeting.
