The Nitro Development Authority was created in order to promote economic
development within the City of Nitro. Our key purpose was to encourage and
assist in the locating of new businesses and to promote the expansion of
existing businesses. Our goal was to provide maximum opportunities for
employment. Working in conjunction with federal, state, and local entities to
promote and advance industrial, commercial, agricultural, and recreational
developments in our area.

Today the Nitro Development Authority has refocused on Community Development.
The Nitro Land Reuse Authority has absorbed the Economic Development objective
leaving the NDA time to focus on small business, recreation, youth development,
and beautification of our wonderful city. Each of these committees consists of
volunteers committed to bettering the community they live and work in, raise
their children in.

Each of these committees has a team of volunteers to dedicate to their projects.
City Council funds the community development organization and will have a vested
interest in the completion of these projects. The NDA’s Executive Director will
present a financial report, along with a projected budget for each upcoming
fiscal year.
