PRODUCT RECALL SAFETY NOTICE: PRB-239058
Affecting limited batch of APCRBC140 batteries manufactured between May 6th,
2019 and May 10th, 2020, found in certain Smart-UPS units 5kva-20kva.
SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC PRODUCT RECALL SAFETY NOTICE
Hazard: The results of analysis performed by Schneider Electric show that
battery issues caused by an internal battery nonconformance may affect the
battery performance and, in a very low number of cases, result in
localized overheating.
Affected Products: The battery issue from a limited batch was identified in
Smart-UPS On-Line UPS systems using the 192V battery cartridge (part no.
APCRBC140) made between May 6th, 2019, and May 10th, 2020.
Refer to the instructions below to determine if your product is affected.
Remedy: Affected batteries (part no. APCRBC140) need to be replaced and will be
provided.
The APCRBC140 battery is user serviceable and hot swappable.
HOW TO FIND YOUR DATE CODE
FINDING THE DATE CODE WILL HELP YOU IDENTIFY IF YOUR UNIT IS AFFECTED.
THE DATE CODE IS THE FIRST SIX CHARACTERS OF THE SERIAL NUMBER FOUND ON THE
MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER LABEL ATTACHED TO THE REAR PANEL OF THE PRODUCT. THIS
LABEL MAY BE LOCATED BEHIND THE FRONT BEZEL AS WELL. FOR THE BATTERY MODULE
INSIDE YOUR UPS/EXTERNAL BATTERY PACK, THE MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER IS ON EITHER
BATTERY MODULE.

* Read the APCRBC140 installation guide
DETERMINE IF YOUR PRODUCT IS AFFECTED
Goal: To identify if the battery module that is inside your UPS/external battery
pack is affected.
Required: Take photos of the labels during inspection as they will need to be
submitted if requesting a replacement.
* STEP 1
Does your UPS/external battery pack model number match those below? If so,
proceed to Step 2. If not, STOP your unit is not affected.

Help narrow the search.
If the battery module inside your UPS/external battery pack has been
replaced, proceed to Step 3.
If the battery module inside your UPS/external battery pack has never been
replaced, does your UPS/external battery pack serial number fall in the
following ranges? If so, proceed to Step 3. If not, STOP your unit is not
affected.
Affected model # starting with: DLRT5K, DLRT8K, FJRT5K, FJRT8K, FJRT10K,
SMRT5K, SRT5K, SRT6K, SRT8K, SRT10K, SRT10RM
Date code range starting with: AS1919 through AS2019 / AQ1919 through AQ2019

Date code range starting with: 7S1919 through 7S2019

Date code range starting with: AS1919 through AS2019

case you have inventory)

Does the battery module, found inside your UPS/external battery pack, have a
serial number date code that falls in the following ranges? If so, proceed to
Step 4. If not, STOP your unit is not affected.
Affected battery module part numbers: 0M-1863B-003, 0M-1863C-703,
0M-816336A-700, 0M-816336B-700, 0M-816336C-700
Serial number date code: 7A1919 through 7A2019
* STEP 4
Does the battery module, found inside your UPS/external battery pack, contain
the following identification label? If so, proceed with requesting your
replacement battery below. If not, STOP your unit is not affected.
• Identification label - BM13170, BR8376, BR8529, BM13756, BR8856, MU1457
Note: Only those battery modules within the date code range and with the
identification label are affected by this Product Safety Notice.
IF YOU REACHED STEP 4 AND THE ANSWER IS YES, YOU MAY BE AFFECTED. START YOUR
