ABOUT WTO

The World Trade Organization (WTO) deals with the global rules of trade between
nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly,
predictably and freely as possible.

TRADE NEGOTIATIONS

The negotiations take place in the Trade Negotiations Committee and specific
negotiating groups. Other work under the work programme takes place in WTO
councils and committees.


DISPUTE SETTLEMENT

WTO members bring disputes to the WTO if they think their rights under trade
agreements are being infringed. Settling disputes is the responsibility of the
Dispute Settlement Body.


IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING

Various WTO councils and commeitees seek to ensure that WTO agreements are being
properly Implemented. ALl WTO members undergo perlodic scrutiny of their trade
policies and practices.

THE WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION

is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade
between nations. At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by
the bulk of the world’s trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The
goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers
conduct their business.
