WHY I'M RUNNING

I'M A FIXER

I'm hard-wired to fix things - whether it's keeping communities safe from crime,
cleaning up financial messes at city hall, solving business problems for my
clients, creating spaces for families and seniors to thrive, or fixing my
grand-kids' broken toys.




My 31-year career in policing taught me to run toward danger instead of away
from it. So when I see a person or community in need of help, I feel the call to
serve.




That is what drives me to run for mayor now. To ensure we restore financial
accountability at city hall, prioritize the needs of families and seniors, and
restore integrity to the mayor's office.




I've done it before, and I'm ready to do it again, with your help!

MARSHALL'S RECORD

FINANCIAL INTEGRITY

 * Dismantled CUI, transferred utilities under the municipality, cut and
   stabilized utility rates.
 * Cut taxes and had clean audits every year in office.
 * Reformed budget process and policies to increase transparency and
   accountability.
 * Adopted council policies for accurate recording of transactions, appropriate
   spending, and appropriate use of city resources.



BUILDING COMMUNITY

 * Broke ground for new Civic Centre in 2021 that would have brought 20
   different sports, wellness programs, meeting spaces and servicing for new
   schools at zero cost to residents. It would have also paved the way for two
   new school sites. 
 * Got 17th Ave twinning at the top of the infrastructure priority list for
   Calgary Metropolitan Region Board.
 * Created the Dirt To Door initiative to build relationships between council
   and businesses and developers.



LEADING INCLUSIVELY

 * Created the Seniors Task Force and ongoing seniors advisory committee to
   council to give a voice to seniors in council decisions.
 * Became a member of the Coalition for Inclusive Municipalities.
 * Hired a Diversity and Inclusion Officer (this position was eliminated by
   current council).
 *  Launched "Piece of the Pie" initiative to give residents a say in where
   their tax dollars go.
