At the heart of ProKofa, there's a story that ignites our passion for technology
and inclusivity. It all began when five lifelong friends embarked on a
transformative journey at Cleveland's inaugural diverse tech innovation
conference. As individuals deeply entrenched in the tech sector, serving various
companies and public organizations, we found ourselves drawn into profound
conversations about a shared vision — a vision to harness our skills in a
concerted effort to uplift underrepresented businesses.

 

The conference served as a pivotal moment, revealing a dual realization: the
staggering need for technological empowerment within underrepresented
communities and the profound impact we could make by providing technical
guidance and solutions delivery using open-source, free, and low-cost solutions.

 

And so, ProKofa was born — a beacon of hope and change in the tech consultancy
landscape.

 

So, What’s in a Name?

Derived from the fusion of two powerful symbols, our name, ProKofa, encapsulates
the essence of our mission. It's a blend of the myth of Prometheus, who stole
fire from the heavens and bestowed it upon the people, and the symbolism of
Sankofa, an African word from the Akan tribe in Ghana.  Sankofa translates to
“it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.” It is born from
the Akan words: SAN (return), KO (go), and FA (look, seek, and take). The
Sankofa symbolizes the Akan people’s quest for knowledge, grounded in critical
examination and intelligent, patient investigation — principles that form the
bedrock of what ProKofa stands for.

At Prokofa, we are on a mission to democratize data access and technology. We
believe in the power of technology to bridge gaps, break barriers, and empower
underrepresented businesses. Our commitment lies in critical examination,
intelligent investigation, and patient guidance as we strive to bring tech

Nelson Foster

Meet Nelson, co-founder and and chief executive officer of ProKofa.  A Cleveland
Native, he is a data engineer with over fifteen years of experience helping
public organizations use data storytelling to gather insights and advocate for
critical resources.  Nelson strives to empower small business, non-profits, and
community-facing organizations with impactful, tech-forward solutions.

Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Mario Dukes

Meet Mario, co-founder and chief operations officer of ProKofa. A Cleveland
native, Mario is an IT professional with years of experience within the public
and private sector regarding managing, engineering, and securing infrastructure.
Mario is deeply committed to the empowerment of small, minority-owned businesses
via technology, the founding pillar on which ProKofa was created.

Brent David

Meet Brent, our in-house UX/UI product designer specialize in interactive design
application, research and user flow. A Cleveland native, Brent has has a passion
for fusing creativity with technology, collaborating seamlessly with clients to
bring ideas to life that resonate with the overall user experience and client
needs, making me an integral part of Prokofa.

RJ Hemme

Meet RJ, our Chief Technology Officer. A Cleveland native, RJ is an experienced
technologist, having worked in various leadership roles guiding the technical
direction of several international manufacturing firms. RJ Is committed to
developing scalable and reliable solutions that help local organizations thrive
resiliently. 

Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer

Bobby Tolliver

Meet Bobby, chief financial officer of ProKofa. A Cleveland native, Bobby is a
Property Management professional with years of experience in real estate,
technical recruiting, education, and non-profit community development. Bobby is
devoted to cultivating autonomy and self-advocacy through establishing equitable
access to resources which is one of the core guiding principles of ProKofa.
