Via Instar HIGHLIGHTS * Cher is seeking a conservatorship for her son, Elijah, due to concerns about his well-being and ability to manage his finances. * She believes that any money given to Elijah will be spent on drugs, putting his life at risk and leaving him with no assets. * Elijah currently receives payouts from a trust fund established by his late father, Gregg Allman, but Cher is worried that he will mishandle the money if the court doesn't intervene. Cher has reportedly been trying to get her youngest son Elijah Blue Allman into a court-sanctioned conservatorship amid concerns for his well-being. While the singer’s request was initially declined by a judge, a new revelation could bode well in her favor. Cher previously made a filing with the court where she requested that Elijah be put into a conservatorship, arguing he’s unable to manage his finances at the moment due to ongoing concerns about his sobriety (he has a history of substance abuse). > “Any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving > Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at > risk,” the court documents reveal, Radar Online reports. Cher’s filing revealed that Elijah makes around $120,000 a year, but also has access to a trust fund established by his father, Gregg Allman, a musician best known as one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band. Cher and Gregg were married in 1975 and divorced in 1979, and have the one son together. Related CHER REDUCES MALIBU MEGA MANSION’S ASKING PRICE BY $10 MILLION She's been trying to sell the quirky home since the fall of last year. Upon passing away in 2017, Gregg Allman’s estate was left to his son in a trust fund. He was reportedly worth $5 million at the time of his death. Elijah has been getting payouts from the trust since then, but Cher apparently believes he’ll continue to mishandle the money if the court doesn’t step in. Despite her insistence, the court didn’t approve the conservatorship request. Via Instar Cher walking through a crowd Most recently, Elijah’s request to dismiss his ongoing divorce proceedings from his wife of eight years, Marieangela King, was denied. The court said this is because of a technicality – there’s an order of support that was recent put in place, leading the judge to rule against Elijah’s request. Allman originally filed for divorce in 2021. Allman’s estranged wife has been vocally against Cher, arguing she doesn’t have her son’s best interest in mind. Marieangela previously made headlines last year after accusing Cher of trying to kidnap her son, which may have been an attempt at an intervention, though Mariangela says Cher has done her best to keep them away from each other. Though Cher’s attempt to put her son in a conservatorship was initially denied by the court, it’s believed the pop legend is continuing to petition the court in hopes of protecting her son’s fortune while he prioritizes her his health. For her part, Cher has a reported net worth of $360 million. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR NEWSLETTER!
