THE BRIDGEPORT ISLANDERS WON TWO OF THEIR THREE GAMES LAST WEEKEND

The Bridgeport Islanders (21-24-5-4), American Hockey League affiliate of the
New York Islanders, won two of their three games last weekend to pull within an
eyelash of the Atlantic Division's final playoff spot.

Andy Andreoff (one goal, three assists), Chris Terry (two goals, one assist) and
Arnaud Durandeau (two goals, one assist) all had impressive weekends, while
Simon Holmstrom added one goal and one helper. Terry's assist on Andreoff's
first-period goal Saturday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tied him
with Trent Whitfield for 50th place on the AHL's all-time scoring list with 595
career points. He has scored 252 career goals (39th most).

ZDENO CHARA REJOINS THE ISLANDERS FOR PRACTICE, DEFENSEMAN HAS BEEN SIDELINED
WITH UPPER-BODY INJURY

Zdeno Chara rejoined the New York Islanders for practice on Tuesday morning.

The defenseman has been sidelined with upper-body injury for the past five games
and is currently on injured reserve retroactive to Feb. 26. Chara has eight
assists in 45 games with the Islanders, as well as a team-leading 73 penalty
minutes. 

Mathew Barzal, who has also missed five games with a lower-body injury, did not
participate in the Islanders practice on Tuesday morning.

Extended highlights of the Colorado Avalanche at the New York Islanders

After holding Colorado to a 1-1 tie through 44 minutes, the Isles allowed 4
goals in 4:21 and the Avalanche held on from there for a 5-4 victory over the
Isles before a crowd of 16,378 at USB Arena.

Anders Lee had a pair of power play goals for the Isles, giving him 200 career
goals. Both goals were set-up by Noah Dobson, who now leads the team with 11
power play points.

Cale Makar scored twice and extended his assist streak to twelve games, matching
Joe Sakic's franchise record; he also became the first defenseman in NHL history
to average over one point a game through 154 career games.

The Isles have lost three of their last four games and fall to 21-24-8 on the
season.

Semyon Varlamov held the fort as long as possible, but despite a season-high 44
saves from the New York Islanders netminder - and a late comeback attempt - it
was not enough to stop the high-flying Colorado Avalanche in a 5-4 loss on
Monday night at UBS Arena. 

Varlamov had 33 saves through two periods, keeping the Islanders with a 1-1 tie
with the league's top team, but the Avalanche broke the dam in the third period,
scoring four goals in a four-and-a-half-minute span to take a 5-1 lead.
Ultimately, the Islanders closed the game with three third period goals of their
own, leading to the 5-4 final.

The Bridgeport Islanders and Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment announced
today they have entered into a 10-year naming rights agreement with
Milford-based regional home financing leader Total Mortgage. The deal will
rename the 10,000-seat sports and entertainment venue in Bridgeport, CT, the
home of the New York Islanders' AHL affiliate, as Total Mortgage Arena.

"We're excited to welcome Total Mortgage as our new naming rights partner in
Bridgeport," said Jon Ledecky, New York Islanders co-owner. "Total Mortgage is
both a leader in the mortgage industry and a dedicated community partner, and we
cannot wait to start working with their team and continue providing our fans
