A FEW WORDS


ABOUT US



F.B.A. Nazrath Ashram is located at Vazhoor Chenkal in the Kottayam District,
Kerala, under the leadership of Fr. George Kuttickal MCBS (Founder of FBA). The
ashram was founded on May 16, 1996, and blessed by Bishop Mathew Moolakkattu.
F.B.A., also known as “Akasapparavakal” in Malayalam, offers selfless service
throughout the State of Kerala. The first F.B.A. ashram was established in
Thrissur, Kerala, and was inaugurated by Mother Teresa in 1994. At Nazrath
Ashram, we provide care and shelter for the homeless, poor, and destitute. Since
its inception in 1996, we have moved forward with the grace of Almighty God and
the support and cooperation of our well-wishers.

F.B.A. has district-wise offices and coordinators who perform their duties
diligently. The Board of Directors coordinates the core activities of Nazrath
Ashram. Our core team members include Fr. Sebastian Perunilam (Zone Director),
Mr. Thankachan Pulikkal (Ashram Director), Mr. Thomas Koyippuram, Mr. Tomichan
Maniyankeril, Mr. Lalichan Thazhakkal, Mr. Mathukutty Kanatt, and Mr. Thomas
Mylakavunkal. Daily activities at the ashram are managed by Mr. Tijo Koyippuram,
Sr. Ranitta S.H., Mr. Sebastian, Mr. Dennis, and Br. Crispin. The space for the
Ashram was donated by Mathukutty Kanatt. Currently, we care for approximately 70
members at the ashram. Many kind hearted people remember us during their special
occasions and functions, sharing their happiness with us.

FEW WORDS ABOUT OUR FOUNDER REV. FR. GEORGE KUTTICKAL MCBS

Fr. George Kuttickal MCBS founded Nazrath Ashram to serve the poor, mentally
challenged, orphans, and homeless. Inspired by their struggles, he envisioned a
rehabilitation center as a home for the homeless, a family for orphans, and care
for the sick. The project began with a humble donation of 53 cents from an
ordinary man and was inaugurated on May 16, 1996, starting with six orphans.

Community support played a vital role, with public contributions of labor,
woodwork, and furniture sustaining the ashram. Ongoing expenses are covered by
donations, along with food and clothing from local supporters. However, it now
primarily operates as a facility for mentally ill men.

THERAPIES



DRUG THERAPY, GROUP THERAPY, HORTICULTURE THERAPY, YOGA & MEDITATION, DAILY
EXERCISE, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, TRIPS & OUTREACH PROGRAMS!

The Centre provides medication based on consultations, supporting patients’
recovery through consistent treatment and observation.

Each group holds weekly meetings and participates in group games and vocational
activities. Group therapy fosters a supportive environment for recovery, while
individual therapy addresses personal issues privately.

Daily exercise is encouraged alongside medication to improve physical and mental
health. Yoga and meditation help maintain a balanced mindset, reducing stress
and mental strain.

Fish farming and horticultural therapy, involving care for fish and working on
land with vegetables, tapioca, and flowers, play a key role in rehabilitation,
offering physical activity and sensory benefits.

Annual tours and outreach programs provide relaxation and a break from routine.
