LIFE IN THE DIRT

Short Story | 2024

A sparse tale of an unnamed narrator as they try to find a new refuge among a
forest of pillars and rails. Machines fly by in the binary light and dark,
occasionally dropping to devour the people that huddle around the base. The
narrator slowly understands what has been lost, and what they can never
understand.

SPICE TRADER

Self-published novella |  2020

When Pete, Jemima and Patrick face catastrophe, they try to become the people
they once thought they could be. An opportunity to peddle Spice, a harmless drug
that produces a side-effect free high, seems to be the answer to their prayers.
Gone are the comedowns, the addiction, the endless churn of seeking the next
high... or so it seems.

voice speaks to her from an unseen source: she's been in a car accident, and her
mind has been transferred to a computer for safekeeping.  Can they reunite the
brain with the body again, or is Eleanor doomed to being locked in the computer
generated room forever?

THE LIBRARY STOOD IN THE DARK. CRISP BLUE LIGHTS DANCED AGAINST THE EDGES OF THE
RAIN, AND COL COULD SEE SMALL RIVERS RUNNING THROUGH THE STREET. IT MADE THE
NIGHT SEEM LIKE AN OLD, LOW RESOLUTION FILM. A GRAINY MEMORY.

Excerpt from Uplink, Henry's newest techno-noir novel, currently querying with
publishers.

FURY HAD TAKEN HIS EVERY WAKING MOMENT FOR YEARS, WHITE HOT AND HATEFUL. HIS
FRIENDS HAD MOVED ON. THEY’D PROBABLY FORGOTTEN ALL
ABOUT HIM BY NOW, THE SAD TEENAGE JUNKIE WHO WENT INTO THE SKY AND LOST THE
EARTH FOR IT.
