Ameritone Paint Colors recognized and celebrated that color is a powerful tool
for evoking emotions, setting moods, and creating captivating design schemes.
Pictured here is Ameritone’s Key 2 color palette from from its 1990 fan deck.

Ameritone’s Color Key System was a curated palette that inspired and empowered
homeowners and design professionals. Rooted in a deep understanding of color
theory, historical trends, and color psychology, the system went beyond
conventional color systems.

Historical Significance: The Ameritone Color Key System drew from art,
architecture, and design history to produce shades that made their mark across
time. It bridged different epochs, connecting with the essence of bygone eras
while adapting them to modern design sensibilities.

Psychological Impact:  Understanding that color influences human emotions and
behavior, the palette’s hues conveyed tranquility, warmth, energy, or
creativity. The colors are organized into Keys; catering to specific emotional
responses. Additionally, this allowed decorators to create design schemes
corresponding to their exact envisioning.

Versatility & Harmony: Designed to facilitate harmonious color combinations,
Ameritone’s philosophy emphasized complementary and contrasting hues. This
provided the tools to create visually stunning and well-coordinated aesthetics. 

Unique & Innovative: Fostering creativity and individuality, these innovative
shades pushed the boundaries of conventional color palettes. Further, they
challenged design professionals to create color schemes beyond the ordinary.

Customization: The Color Key System was a dynamic tool for designers and
decorators. Moreover, it provided for easy customization, ensuring that the
palette was adaptable to each project’s unique requirements.

Ameritone Paint Colors and its Color Key System were a testament to the power of
color in design. Inspired by history, driven by psychology, this palette
inspired beautiful color schemes. Ameritone Paint and Devoe merged in 1997.

AMERITONE PAINT COLOR DECK KEY 1 COLLECTION

This is the 1990 Ameritone Paint Color Fan Deck. The Color Key Program
Collection separates and presents all the colors of the color spectrum into two
groups referred to as the Key 1 and Key 2 color palette. All hues are present
except for orange, which is not present in the Key 1 palette, and magenta and
blue/green which are not present in the Key 2 palette. All hues within each Key
group harmonize with each other. Pictured here is the Key 1 palette.

MID-CENTURY AMERITONE COLORS

This vintage Ameritone Color Key System Fan Deck is from 1963. Pictured above is
Key Deck 2. Ameritone presented their colors in two palettes or decks referred
to as Key 1 colors and Key 2 colors. The hues in each Key (or palette ) are in
total harmony with each other, and can be mixed and matched to form endless
harmonious color schemes. Ameritone marketed its easy-to-use color selection
tool to painters, homeowners and decorators. These dramatic mid-century colors
provide inspiration for anyone looking to decorate in the retro aesthetic of the
era.
