Yes we often get mislead by the concept of Fake Hero, and we are really not
trying to do any hard work and market research for the Strategic materials and
switching these to Leverage because we are sitting in our own comfort zones and
do not want to disturb the egg basket but I have always taken the tough
decisions of shifting and adding new vendors and mind you the lowest quoted
vendor is not always the best bargain as sometimes it back fires and I for one
have often taken goods from slightly higher quoted vendors and won confidence of
both prties in a WIN-WIN situation in the longer run

Very interesting. Moving from strategic to leverage needs organizational
commitment and value for procurement and sourcing aim. operating in the leverage
quadrant is the driving sit of procurement people BUT moving from strategic to
leverage is most times controlled by conflict of interest forces and it makes it
difficult to control.

great info..agreed indeed where historically.. user already spoilt the market
and putting the their purchase at strategic quadrant.. to ease their
operation..and..yes.to move to leverage..higher management need to have a right
vision to re-spec or re-engineer all those matters.. and strong stakeholders
engagement required

Interesting.Well said! phase of Routine to Leverage is most of us do during
initial stage of carrier. Movement of Strategic to Leverage takes time but
interesting and real value for organisation.

Good explanation of Kraljic Matrix. As explained it is easy to move from routine
to leverage quadrant and but difficult to shift from strategic due to
insufficient time considering the project deadline and milestone activity.

   What's holding back procurement today? Despite the rise of digital
   technologies, many procurement departments are still stuck in the mindset of
   the past. They view their role as a transactional one, focused on
   cost-cutting and compliance, rather than a strategic one that can deliver
   real value to the business. We need to start viewing procurement differently.
   The rise of AI and automation means that we can move beyond the traditional
   transactional focus. We can use data-driven insights to find innovative
   suppliers, develop new products and services, and create sustainable supply
