Despite the rise of digital technologies, many procurement departments are still stuck in the mindset of the past. They view their role as a transactional one, focused on cost-cutting and compliance, rather than a strategic one that can deliver real value to the business. We need to start viewing procurement differently. The rise of AI and automation means that we can move beyond the traditional transactional focus. We can use data-driven insights to find innovative suppliers, develop new products and services, and create sustainable supply chains.
