bank installs an electronic data capture (EDC) machine. When you buy something.

4. Acquiring Banks: Install EDC machines at merchants’ points of sale. It is
possible that you will use an HDFC card (issuer) at an Axis Bank (acquirer) EDC
machine. According to Visa, switching is facilitated by a network. This is true
whether the transaction is domestic or international. The acquiring bank is the
entity in charge of ensuring that the merchant receives his payments on time.
