SAFE & FOUND IS DEDICATED TO ASSISTING POLICE IN LOCATING PERSONS WHO MAY BE AT
RISK OF BECOMING LOST OR REPORTED MISSING

Safe & Found WA is an initiative introduced by Western Australia Police Force
(WA Police Force) and Australia Medic Alert Foundation.

Safe & Found supports people living with dementia, autism or a cognitive
impairment who might be at risk of becoming lost or reported as missing, by
ensuring Police have immediate access to critical information to assist when
undertaking search operations.

A detailed profile outlining your personal history and characteristics is
completed ahead of time, and kept securely along with a recent photo, on the
Safe & Found database for Police to access immediately if you go missing.

A Safe & Found ID bracelet is included with your membership to protect you when
you're out in public. Your bracelet is engraved with the details needed to
return you to safety should you appear lost or disoriented.

ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT WANDERING?

It's estimated that 6 out of 10 people living with dementia will wander at least
once.

Planning ahead is the key to saving lives.

There may be important pieces of information you are able to provide Police in
the event the person you are caring for has gone missing. Searchers use the
information provided by you when you join Safe & Found to assist their search
efforts and determine possible locations or specific lost person behaviour.

A completed Lost Person Behaviour Profile allows Police to focus their efforts
more efficiently by allowing them a better understanding of who they are looking
for, what the person has done previously and may be likely to do in the future.

Lost Person Behaviour is a proven search strategy, reducing time and assisting
in a safe return home.

Your Lost Person Behaviour Profile is updated with an intuitive online form and
hosted by MedicAlert Australia, ensuring that your personalised information will
be accessible to Police 24 hours a day.

Your information is the key to a fast response and a safe return.


STEP 3
WEAR YOUR SAFE & FOUND ID BRACELET

Your Safe & Found ID bracelet is included in your joining fee.

Your ID is engraved with an emergency contact phone number plus your unique Safe
& Found membership number, giving Police access to your Lost Person Behaviour
Profile and photo via the secure database.
