The NIE number is the tax identification number for foreigners in Spain. It is
required for absolutely every official act, more so than in any other European
country. Activities for which you need a NIE number range from the purchase of
real estate or renting a house, to little things such as simply buying a prepaid
SIM card.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. COMPLETE OUR EASY ONLINE NIE APPLICATION FORM
The first step consists of filling out our easy online NIE application form. You
will fill in personal details such as your name, current address, date of birth,
etc. after which you can complete the payment in the payment method of your
choice – choose between credit/debit card, PayPal, iDEAL and more.
The whole process takes no more than 5 minutes.
2. SIGN THE PRE-FILLED POWER OF ATTORNEY DOCUMENT
After submitting your application, we will automatically send you a Power of
Attorney document which you should sign in the presence of your notary. This
document is pre-filled with your details and is in both Spanish and in your
local language. This document will allow us to apply for the NIE number on your
behalf.
3. GET YOUR IDENTITY DOCUMENT AND POA LEGALISED
We need a legalised copy of your identity document and the PoA as explained in
the previous step. You simply go to your local notary where you will sign the
PoA and and get this documents and a copy of your passport legalised which
allows us to process the application on your behalf, in Spain.
Your set of documents must be legalised, which means it must bear the stamp of
your notary and an apostille (which your notary can also arrange). The process
takes up no more than a few minutes and the average cost is €75, but this
depends on your notary.
Copy should be of actual size, and in case of ID card should include both sides.
4. SEND US YOUR LEGALISED DOCUMENTS
Now you simply need to send us your legalised documents. We recommend using an
express courier service such as DHL or UPS since this will significantly speed
up the process. Using regular mail might take up to 2 weeks to arrive, since
local mail in Spain can often be slow.
5. RECEIVE YOUR SPANISH NIE NUMBER
While your documents are making their way to us, we efficiently anticipate it’s
date of arrival by scheduling an appointment with the Spanish authorities at the
soonest possible moment after, where we will request the NIE number on your
behalf. A few days later we will receive your NIE number, upon which we will
send you a scanned copy per email the same day.
Depending on the service you chose, we will send you the original copy via
regular mail or express courier service. Regular mail can take anywhere from 1
to 3 weeks, and express courier service arrives the next day.
