WHY SHOULD I VACCINATE MY PETS?

Vaccinations help prevent deadly diseases, as well as the high cost of treating
them. Vaccines also help prevent diseases passed among animals and those passed
from animals to humans.

WHY IS PETCO LOVE DONATING MILLIONS OF FREE VACCINES FOR CATS AND DOGS?

According to experts, rabies, parvovirus, distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in
cats are the most prevalent deadly diseases preventable by vaccines affecting
pets nationally. Petco Love aims to end unnecessary pet euthanasia and by
providing awareness of and access to free and low-cost pet vaccines.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE A FREE VACCINE FOR MY CAT OR DOG?

WHAT IS PARVO?

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that can affect all dogs.
Unvaccinated dogs and puppies younger than four months old are the most at risk.

WHAT IS PANLEUKOPENIA?

Feline panleukopenia (FP) is a highly contagious viral disease of cats caused by
the feline parvovirus. Kittens are most severely affected by the virus.

WHAT IS DISTEMPER?

Canine distemper is a contagious and serious disease caused by a virus that
attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems of puppies and
dogs.

WHAT IS A DAPPV VACCINE?

Canine 1-DAPPv is a combination vaccine approved for protection against canine
distemper virus, adenovirus type 1 and 2, canine parainfluenza virus, and canine
parvovirus.

WHAT IS AN FVRCP OR HCP VACCINE?

Like core booster vaccines for dogs, this version for cats helps prevent
rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (distemper) in cats, all of
which can be deadly.

IS IT OK TO TITER TEST MY PET RATHER THAN VACCINATE ANNUALLY?

Vaccinal titer testing is a scientifically proven method of determining immunity
and protection against the core vaccine agents. Even fully vaccinated pets may
not be immune, so titer testing helps identify animals that would benefit from
vaccination.
