CO. While struggling to find high-paying clients with my freelance work (and seeing my clients with success from my work!), I decided that my best option would be to start my own online business. This is where I got started with Magento. I learned myself to build my first Magento website from online resources, documentations, and from the Magento forum itself. Without prior experience with Magento, it was a difficult and exhausting task but it was my only choice since I did not have any budget to hire a programmer. My first Magento website ended up generating enough sales that allowed us to acquire several wholesale customers (and saved me from becoming homeless!) and eventually brought me a full-time job as a Software Developer. This is the reason why I have a strong passion for Magento. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FULL-STACK WEB DEVELOPER / E-COMMERCE CONSULTANT FREELANCE WORK After closing down my online rental website, I decided to do some freelance work, helping small businesses with their website from the newly-acquired skills that I had learned from managing an online business. I offered my services like basic website designs, Search Engine Optimization, internet marketing and advertising, including consultations, and other services. Eventually, this is where I learned about WordPress and got my first exposure with Magento. 2008 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2005 FOUNDER MEGASTAR HOME ENTERTAINMENT (FILIPINOMOVIERENTALS.COM) Founded a Netflix-type DVD rental website that generated revenues of over $500,000 with a start-up capital of only $1,500. This is where I got started with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and eventually with PHP and MySQL. I also learned internet marketing skills like SEO and search engine advertising like Google Adwords (and Adsense!) for generating traffic to our website. I also oversaw and managed the whole website using techniques that lead site visitors to sign up for our service.
