WELCOME

The third edition of the COVID-19 Vaccine Development & Implementation
Workshop will take place on 7 - 8 June 2022 as a virtual program.

Despite the incredible success that vaccines have had in preventing COVID-19 and
saving lives, there are still many knowledge gaps to be addressed for improved
pandemic preparedness. The COVID-19 Vaccine Development & Implementation
Workshop aims to increase knowledge and facilitate discussion on the many
aspects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines among virologists, infectious diseases
specialists, the community, and policymakers. Emerging clinical data, the impact
of vaccination and boosting on country rates of COVID-19, the durability of
immunity, vaccines in children and pregnancy, and the impact of new virus
variants on protection are only a few of the topics that are covered in this
workshop. The first two editions of this workshop were exceptionally successful
in gathering experts and discussing the many aspects of vaccine development and
rollout in 2021.

This global program hopes to promote understanding and stimulate further
discussion and research among virologists, infectious diseases specialists, the
community, and policymakers. This will be done in the truly global context of
the COVID-19 pandemic, considering regional differences in access to
medications, health system capacity, and public measures.

ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION

COVID-19 Vaccine Development & Implementation Workshop 2022 will be soon open
for abstract submissions. More information on the categories and the
deadlines to follow.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Abstracts should contain the following four components:

 * Background: A concise statement of the issue under investigation or a
   hypothesis;
 * Material and Methods: The experimental methods used (including the
   statistical analyses employed);
 * Results: Specific findings (promises such as "to be completed" or "to be
   presented" are not acceptable);
 * Conclusions: A summary of findings that are supported by your results
   (statistical analyses used to support the conclusions, where appropriate,
   should be included; concluding statements such as "the results will be
   discussed" are not acceptable).

Please note that abstracts cannot be accepted if tables or graphs are included.
The maximum word count for the abstract body is 500 words.

Abstracts are considered official communications to the conference and will be
treated confidentially. Submitters of accepted abstracts agree to attend the
meeting and present their abstract as scheduled. 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By submitting an abstract to a meeting organized by Virology Education BV (VE)
or Academic Medical Education BV (AME), the abstract submitter hereby agrees to
the terms and conditions.

Young Professionals
We are pleased to waive the registration fee for young investigators with an
accepted abstract and also provide a 50% discount on the registration fee for
young investigators without an accepted abstract.

IMPORTANT: the registration fee waiver is offered to the presenting author of
the abstract only.

Applicants should:

- Be 35 years of age or younger;
- Be a current Master/ PharmD/ PhD student; OR
- Have obtained an MD/ PharmD/ PhD degree in the last five years.

An application form (available below) needs to be completed by a supervisor and
received by the Virology Education at least 2 weeks before the start of the
conference.

Virology Education will contact the young investigator with instructions
regarding registration for the workshop once the application has been received.
Notification of Abstract Acceptance and Presentation Format
It is the responsibility of the corresponding/ presenting author to inform all
co-authors of the abstract’s status. We aim to send out notifications at least
1.5 months prior to the start date of the event. Please notify the Conference
Secretariat if you have not received a notification by mid-September. If your
abstract is accepted, one author is required to register for the workshop and
present the paper as scheduled. Guidelines for preparing your oral and/or poster
presentations will be sent after your abstract has been accepted.
Abstract Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Program & Abstract Book. This will
be distributed during the workshop and will be available as an enduring material
after the workshop has concluded. Please note that the conference secretariat
cannot be held responsible for any typing or language errors in the submitted
abstracts as only the format of the abstracts will be changed and not the
content.

VE and AME is the sole copyright holder of the workshop abstract book as a whole
(also referred to as the Reviews in Antiviral Therapy & Infectious Diseases).
The abstract authors will retain any and all copyright over their individual
abstract. Information on copyright can be viewed in the abstract submission
terms and conditions (see 'Terms and Conditions' above).
