HEDONIC HUNGER

TOILET ROLL

SIMULATION HYPOTHESIS

The simulation hypothesis, which suggests that our reality is a
computer-generated construct created by a more advanced civilization, has been a

Bostrom's 2003 paper, the hypothesis posits that one of three propositions must
be true: civilizations go extinct before simulating a universe, advanced
civilizations lose interest in simulations, or we are almost certainly living in

computational power required and the difficulty in simulating consciousness,
among other reasons. Proposed tests to determine if we are living in a
simulation involve searching for inconsistencies or limitations within our
universe. Discovering that our reality is simulated could lead to a profound
shift in our understanding of existence and potentially impact our values,
ethics, and goals. However, the practical implications may be less important
than the intellectual and philosophical inquiry the hypothesis inspires, as it
forces us to confront our assumptions about reality and encourages us to
re-evaluate our place in the universe.
