MUSHROOM MATERIAL Sustainable Packaging Get in touch WHAT WE'RE DOING We've developed a mushroom-based alternative to polystyrene (Styrofoam) by combining agricultural waste with the root structure of mushrooms, better known as "mycelium". Our material is completely sustainable and 100% biodegradable. It has the same protective properties as polystyrene and naturally degrades in your garden or landfill. Why mushrooms HOW WE'RE DOING IT Design We work with our clients to create sustainable packaging designs that easily replace and fit into existing processes. Manufacture Once the packaging is designed, we manufacture the finished product. We work with our clients to scale up order quantities and ship globally. Supply For clients with in-house design teams, we supply the raw material directly to their existing packaging manufacturers. The transition to our eco-friendly material is minimal. What we do WHY WE'RE DOING IT To date, over 100 US cities and 25 countries around the world have initiatives banning single-use plastics, specifically polystyrene In 2021 - The European Union Single-Use Plastics Directive banned 10 single-use plastic products from all 27 countries in the EU. This includes polystyrene products. In 2025 - The Australian Packaging Covenant will ban all non-reusable, non-recyclable or non-compostable packaging, specifically polystyrene. 250 major brands, including McDonald's, Starbucks, Mars, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Kellogg's, Unilever, Nestlé, L'Oreal, and H&M, have pledged to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Recyclable or compostable materials will replace all single-use plastics by 2025.
