PCSD INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN TUCSON INTERSECTION


Crash shuts down Tucson intersection(13 News)

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the road has
reopened after a crash on Friday morning, September 8.

PCSD responded to a reported crash at approximately 6:14 a.m. at the
intersection of E. River Road and N. Via Entrada for a serious injury crash
involving a bicyclist and an SUV.

During the investigation, deputies gathered information that indicated that the
SUV was traveling westbound on River Road, and the bicyclist was crossing River
Rd heading north towards Via Entrada.

The SUV hit the bicyclist as he crossed the westbound lanes.



PCSD identified the bicyclist as 74-year-old Christopher Myers and was
pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and is cooperating with the
investigation. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Authorities said the investigation into this crash is ongoing.
