PHARMASAVE PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE WALKS IT OUT FOR THE KIDS

PHARMASAVE STAFF SET PACE FOR 'KIDS FIGHTING CANCER' PROGRAMS

The dedicated staff at Pharmasave Portage La Prairie wanted to show their
continued support of building a stronger, healthier community and registered a
team in a 24 hour relay to help raise money for Kids Fighting Cancer Programs -
Central Plains Cancer Services (CPCS). Donning their retro-inspired costumes,
they joined several other local businesses and organizations who came together
as a community to walk consecutively for a 24 hour period in support of the CPCS
programs.

Acknowledging that the Central Plains Cancer Services organization is incredibly
important for the Portage community, Pharmasave was inspired to participate
because it not only helps to make their local patient's lives easier, but also
those in over 70 communities in rural Manitoba as well! The final fundraising
total will be announced by CPCS later this week on their Facebook page:
@centralplainscancerservices

The team is knee-deep in 2023 granting and we thought, what better time to throw
it back to 2022 and spotlight dozens of our community endowment grantees. We are
feeling positively giddy as we get set to share them with you!
You’ll have to wait a few weeks until they roll-out but we promise it will be
worth it. In the meantime, here’s a wee teaser to whet your curiosity and give
you a sense of what you will see later this month.
A first-time grantee in 2022, we are thrilled to showcase the Edward Milne
Community School Society, recipient of an $8,588 grant from the Island Savings a
division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment, housed with the First
West Foundation .
“Thanks to the generous funding we have received from the First West Foundation
and the Island Savings Community Endowment, we are able to make substantial
improvements to 3 large high school gardens in the Westshore area in School
District 62,” shared Ashley Green, Community School Programs Coordinator.
“This project will help us develop garden infrastructure, including rainwater
capture and irrigation solutions, solar powered compost tea bubbles,
informational signage, and perennial plants. More innovative and biologically
abundant spaces will help us to attract and inspire students and educators.”
We are very proud to support your Planting Pathways work around inspiring youth
to design, create and grow vegetable gardens at three local high schools, in
partnership with SD #62.
