A man in his 30s is facing fraud charges after allegedly posing as a travel
agent and selling clients fake airline tickets, Toronto police say.

Officers said a man claimed to work at a travel agency between August and
October, 2015, though he was not actually employed as a travel agent.

During that time, it is alleged that the man sold fake airline tickets "at
seemingly discounted prices" to would-be travellers, police said in a statement
Monday.

The man also told clients he had financial investment opportunities in foreign
currency exchange, police said. Clients told officers the man took money, but
never delivered the foreign currency.

Others said they were told he could arrange vehicle leases, provided money, but
were never given vehicles, according to police.

In total, the man is alleged to have defrauded victims of a total of $275,000.

Following an investigation, 39-year-old Mike Di Giulio has been charged with six
counts of fraud over $5,000.

Police said they believe Di Giulio also used the aliases "Michael Angelo" and
"Mike Antonio De Santos."

They said Di Giulio mainly targets Toronto's Italian community, and that they
believe there may be more victims.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact police at 416-808-3100, or call
Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
