Prior to his appointment to this role, Mr. Nedrow served for 27 years in various roles in the Criminal Division in the district’s San Jose branch office, including as the Branch Chief from January 2011 to December 2019, the Deputy Branch Chief from May 2009 to January 2011, and two separate appointments as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from December 1994 to May 2009 and from December 2019 to February 2022. Mr. Nedrow started his career in the district as a Supervisory Paralegal / Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the San Francisco office from August 1992 to December 1994. Mr. Nedrow is a graduate of Stanford University and the UCLA School of Law. KIMBERLY HOPKINS EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT U.S. ATTORNEY Ms. Hopkins became the Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California on March 14, 2022. Prior to her appointment to this role, Ms. Hopkins served for nearly 10 years as a Criminal Division Assistant U.S. Attorney in the San Francisco district office, including as a member of the Asset Forfeiture section from October 2012 to January 2014, the Strike Force and Violent Crime section from January 2014 to September 2018, the Special Prosecutions and National Security section from September 2018 to July 2020, and the Corporate and Securities Fraud section from July 2020 to February 2022. Prior to joining the Northern District of California, Ms. Hopkins served for four years as an AUSA in the Violent Crime unit of the District of Arizona’s U.S. Attorney’s Office. Ms. Hopkins is a graduate of UCLA and Boston College Law School. TOM COLTHURST CHIEF, CRIMINAL DIVISION Mr. Colthurst serves as the Chief of the Criminal Division. Prior to serving in this role, Mr. Colthurst had served as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division since January 2021. Prior to serving as Deputy Criminal Chief, he was OCDETF Chief from February 2015 to January 2021. Mr. Colthurst also served as an AUSA and was assigned to prosecute OCDETF cases in the USAO’s San Jose Branch Office, starting in 2008. He also served as the Professional Responsibility Officer in the San Jose Branch Office. His prior supervisory experience includes serving as the Chief of the Drug Unit in the USAO for the Western District of Tennessee from 2005 to 2008. He served as an AUSA in that district from 1996 to 2008. From 1991 to 1996, he served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Washington, D.C. He was assigned to the Money Laundering Section from 1991 to 1994 and was assigned to the Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section from 1994 to 1996. From 1989 to 1991, he was employed as an attorney in private practice in Sausalito, California. From 1981 to 1989, he served as an attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission offices in San Francisco, California, and Los Angeles, California, and served as Assistant Regional Administrator in the SEC’s Los Angeles office from 1986 to 1989. Mr. Colthurst is a graduate of the University of Santa Clara School of Law and U.C. Berkeley. MICHELLE LO CHIEF, CIVIL DIVISION Ms. Lo has been the Chief of the Civil Division since September 2021. Prior to serving in this role, she served as a Deputy Chief of the Civil Division since April 2018. Prior to joining this office in 2014, she served for over five years as an AUSA in the Civil Division of the USAO for the District of Columbia from 2009 to 2014. Ms. Lo graduated from U.C. Berkeley and the University of Minnesota Law School.
