Taught by Professor Lisa Hall and Professor Seamus Higson, this short on-line course is designed to provide a primer for the business of commercialising opportunities from the Biosciences – with consideration of intellectual property and its protection, business plans, raising finance and commercial strategies for SMEs through to large corporate organisations. By the end of this 8-week course, your team will be able to: * Identify potential bioscience advancements from the pharmaceutical, biomedical and wellness devices, and agri-biotechnology sectors. * Recognise new and emerging trends and evaluate them for their potential impact and commercial opportunities. * Assess potential opportunities based on their technical content, risk-reward ratio and their ability to meet unmet functional needs. * Assess the potential markets and identify opportunities for new or existing bioscience advancements. * Examine the process creating a business plan, with consideration of intellectual property protection, angel investors and/or venture capital fundraising, market exploitation and income streams − along with business development plans and exit routes. * Produce an example business plan.
