WELCOME TO IAP2 AUSTRALASIA

As the peak body for the community and stakeholder engagement sector, IAP2
Australasia, believes that engagement, when done well, improves environmental,
social and governance outcomes and increases trust in the democratic process.

We advocate for all communities to be authentically engaged in decisions that
affect them through education and increasing awareness of authentic engagement
and all its benefits, in alignment with the IAP2 Quality Assurance Standard for
Community and Stakeholder Engagement.

IAP2 DEFINITION OF ENGAGEMENT

Engagement is an intentional process with the specific purpose of working across
organisations, stakeholders, and communities to shape the decisions or actions
of members of the community, stakeholders, or organisation in relation to a
problem, opportunity, or outcome.

DESIGN AND PLAN ENGAGEMENT, MARCH 2023

“I really got so much out of the last couple of days. Small group projects,
sharing different insights and experiences, and seeing examples of best practice
community engagement methods (particularly websites), demonstrating transparency
and community-centric engagement. I’m thirsty to know more and apply insights to
my day-to-day job in supporting and enabling areas that are undertaking
stakeholder engagement activities to consider the broader environment, issues,
sensitivities, methods and opportunities. I also found the opportunity to
network with like-minded people who were really valuable, passionate, capable
and curious. THANK YOU – we covered a lot but I felt it was equally exactly the
right amount we needed to cover – and now revisit and consider and apply in our
own workplaces.”
