MANAGING MONEY SHOULD BE AS STRAIGHTFORWARD AS DRIVING A CAR.

A lot of people find money management stressful. They feel like they are barely
making it through the month and don't have time, money, or energy to plan for
the future.

I believe it's possible to have unusual confidence with money by implementing a
few simple habits that only take a few minutes per month. Yes, there's a budget
but I promise it's WAY simpler than you think.

As a heads up, this is a book about money written from a Christian perspective
because God's plan for money is beautiful, realistic, and full of amazing
promises for his people. If you're not a Christian, I would be honored if you
chose to read it, too.

Stephen Bateman
Creator of Money Habits

BUDGETING AT THE SPEED OF LIFE

Most budgets are way too complicated to be useful. We're going to create a
budget with exactly four categories so there's enough detail to make decisions
without becoming overwhelming.

Caring for my family Need
Enjoying God's creation Want
Participating in God's mission Give
Preparing for tomorrow Plan

BUDGETING AS A CHRISTIAN

Jesus had a lot to say about money, the poor, and our hearts. We shouldn't
assume that our culture's expectations for spending, planning, or generosity
automatically line up with his Kingdom.

A Christian approach to money →

> ...lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
> destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure
> is, there your heart will be also.
>
> Matthew 6:20–21
> ESV

> The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
> and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,
> provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
