The School of History and Sociology has gotten a makeover!  Go to
www.hsoc.gatech.edu to check out the new look of the website.



With the website change, the blog is moving too.  From now on, you can follow
the HTS Undergraduate Student Blog at www.hsoc.gatech.edu/undergrad-blog.  The
old blog (this one!) will stay live and all the posts will remain, so don't
worry if you forgot to jot down a deadline or make note of an internship
opportunity.  The information is still there!

METROPOLITAN AMERICA IN A GLOBALIZING AGE

On Friday, April 22, 2016, the School of History and Sociology at Georgia Tech
is hosting a day-long symposium that will feature a roundtable discussion
composed of leading historians and sociologists, a series of breakout sessions
led by those experts, a panel marking the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Atlanta

STUDENT HONORS CELEBRATION

OSTP FALL POLICY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is currently accepting
applications for its Fall Policy Internship Program. The application deadline is
June 17, 2016. Students who are U.S. citizens and who will be enrolled in, or
have just graduated from, an academic program should feel free to apply.

About OSTP: The Office of Science and Technology Policy advises the President on
the effects of science and technology on domestic and international affairs. The
office serves as a source of scientific and technological analysis and judgment
for the President with respect to major policies, plans and programs of the
Federal Government. About the Internship Program. Interns are accepted for one
of three annual terms (Spring, Summer, or Fall), which each last no more than 90
days. The assignments provide educational enrichment, practical work experience,
and networking opportunities with other individuals in the science and
technology policy arena.

SOUP REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration is open for the Summer Online Undergraduate Program (SOUP.) With
online summer courses, students can get ahead, stay on track with your hours, or
get into classes that normally fill up. Similar to Tech courses taught on
campus, online courses are semester-based, and perfect for Georgia Tech students
who will be working at an internship, co-op, or unable to be on campus during
the summer.


Students participating in SOUP courses, are unable to take classes on the
Atlanta campus, any other campus or through the study abroad program.

Students can go to https://pe.gatech.edu/summer-classes to see which courses
will be offered and start the process to sign up for a SOUP class.

11TH ANNUAL UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM

Undergraduate research at Tech will be showcased on Tuesday, April 19th
(tomorrow) at the 11th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium
http://urop.gatech.edu/2016-symposium in the Student Center Ballroom and
surrounding rooms. Approximately 200 students will present their work on medical
advances in multiple fields, sustainable building design, regeneration, even a
wristband that digitizes handwriting on 2D surfaces, plus much, much more! Over
160 presentations with reception to follow (presentations 1-4:30pm | reception
4:30-6pm). The full symposium program is online here.

HOW TO GET BOOKS FROM GT LIBRARY'S COLLECTION

miles to the EmTech Library Services Center, where it will be kept cool, dry,
and well-preserved for the next 200 years.

FALL INTERNSHIP IN LONDON WITH IMAX

IMAX EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) is seeking a marketing intern for
their London office for the Fall 2016 semester. This internship is unpaid, so
all expenses will need to be covered by the intern. Intern will assist with
marketing initiatives, exhibitions, events, and coordinating with partners and
third-party suppliers.

Preferred major is Business Administration with an interest in the entertainment
and media industries. Previous international experience is an asset. If

DIVERSITY ABROAD

Are you interning abroad in the 2016-2017 academic year?
Diversity Abroad, in cooperation with the AIFS, will offer a $500 stipend for
fall 2016 and spring 2017. Five stipends are available for each term.
Overseas Ambassadors serve during a 4-6 month time frame, depending on the
length of their chosen study abroad program.
