On March 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan co-organized with the Secretariat of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a consultation meeting with Business at OECD (BIAC) and the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD (TUAC), to prepare for this year’s OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) which Japan will chair in May. The meeting took place at Keidanren Kaikan. 2. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. HOSAKA Yasushi, opened the meeting, underlining the importance of inputs from the business and labor sectors towards the success of this year’s MCM, and emphasized Japan’s intent to cooperate with them to further disseminate OECD’s rules and standards. 3. Mr. Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Charles Johnston, Chair of BIAC, Mr. SHIMIZU Hideyuki, Vice Chair of TUAC, and the Permanent Representatives of Mexico and the Netherlands to the OECD followed in welcoming participants. 4. The meeting provided a forum for active exchange of views on this year’s MCM theme, “CO-CREATING THE FLOW OF CHANGE: Leading Global Discussion with Objective and Reliable Approach toward Sustainable Growth”, to better reflect the views of the business and labor sectors to the discussion at the MCM.
