Over the period, HDF has positively impacted more than 3.4 million people through several programs and projects across 7000 villages. These statistics speak of the steadfast support of our donors, the tremendous efforts of our teams and partner communities, and the continuous innovation of our programs, especially in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic last year. INTEGRATED Program Model We firmly believe that multi-dimensional challenge of poverty can only be addressed through holistic approach. Social Capital Development is cross-cutting and foundation of each program of HDF as we place overall well-being of partner communities at the center stage and progressively follow holistic model to transform communities through impactful interventions. Education & Literacy, Primary Healthcare, Livelihoods & Food Security, Sustainable Environment, and Partnerships are key pillars of our program alligned with to help communities move from poverty to prosperity. With physical footprint in 91 Tehsils of 69 Districts of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azaad Jammu Kashmir, we strive to achieve excellence in program delivery. SOCIAL CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT SOCIAL CAPITAL Development Social Capital Development (SCD) forms the foundation for HDF’s integrated development programs driven by the philosophy of helping people help themselves. SCD teams play a proactive and engaging role in mobilizing communities to identify their needs and find solutions to their problems. Embracing the rights-based approach, HDF strives to develop self-sustained communities. The process of social mobilization seeks to develop communities through building and strengthening local institutions as well as alliances formed on the basis of shared values, norms, vision and mutual cooperation. We facilitate institution building from the grassroot level. Group of individuals with passion to make change in community are empowered through village development organizations (VDOs), local support organizations (LSOs) and sector committees, focusing on education, health, livelihood and physical infrastructure, along with children forums. HDF grooms communities through various levels of the capacity building. This comprises Community Management Skills training (CMSTs), Business Management Skills Trainings (BMSTs), conferences and seminars among others. Gender is a cross cutting priority. Gender mainstreaming and women’s participation in all aspects of community development is ensured. 0 CBOs organized & Empowerd 0 People Trained in Community Management Skills 0 Worth Devlopment Projects Mobilized 0 Women in training EDUCATION & LITERACY EDUCATION & Literacy Providing quality education to children in marginalized communities is our flagship program. HDF works hard to make sure learning is always an enjoyable experience for children. The Education & Literacy program is designed to teach them life skills including critical and analytical thinking, molding them into decision-makers of the future. Teaching civic sense is also an integral part of the program, shaping them into productive members of the society. We lay special emphasis on gender equality and community participation while taking local norms and culture into account. Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) encourage community participation and keeps parents involved in their children’s schooling process. We have been establishing and maintaining non-formal and formal schools under this program for primary and secondary levels. We also conduct enrollment campaigns for HDF schools besides facilitating student enrollment in other schools. In addition to building our schools with modern facilities, we also provide training to our teachers by conducting regular teachers training programs to improve their teaching skills. 0 Schools Established 0 Students Enrolled 0 THANKS Scholarships Awarded 0 Girls Enrolled PRIMARY HEALTHCARE PRIMARY Healthcare Primary Healthcare is a significant program of HDF, promoting healthy lifestyle and providing preventive health services to the most vulnerable population. We endeavor to maintain healthy communities with special emphasis on the well-being of Mother and Child program. Our Community Health Centers (CHCs) provide basic health facilities to marginalized communities and raise awareness about personal hygiene as well as communicable and non-communicable diseases, while maintaining accessible, affordable and integrated health services. A team of trained professionals comprising of a doctor, Community Health Workers (CHWs), Lady Health Visitors (LHVs), and Dispenser raise awareness with their door-to-door services on health issues such as, family planning, immunization, antenatal and postnatal services to women in all regions. The CHCs are equipped to carry out basic lab testing. For remote communities, medical camps and mobile health services are set up as needed. 0 Children Treated for Malnourishment 0 Livebirths Infant Mortality Rate 0 Contraceptive Prevalence Rate 0 Livebirths Mortality Rate under Five Years of Age LIVELIHOOD & FOOD SECURITY LIVELIHOOD & Food Security Livelihood and food security is an important pillar of our program for graduating people out of poverty. It helps impart employable technical and vocational skills within women and youth, support livelihood by making capital accessible in partnership with microfinance banks, piloting and training farmers on improved agricultural practices and by provision of improved varieties of seed to enhance their productivity by increasing crop yield; and help improve food security by provision of fruit and vegetable seed, and plants and by establishment of kitchen gardens and community gardens. HDF pays special importance to women economic empowerment to enable them play greater role in their household and communities. Under this program, around 13,000 people are empowered through vocational and technical skills training. Concerning the rising food insecurity, 4.6 million meals have been provided in HDF areas, while 900,000 meals were provided outside HDF areas. Not only this, HDF has also provided livelihood support to 3,000 vulnerable families through kitchen gardens and 15 community gardens. 0 Disbursed under Microfinance Program 0 Beneficiaries under Microfinance Program 0 Beneficiaries of Economic Development Program 0 People Trained in Vocational/Technical Skills SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABLE Environment This essential program aims to introduce new and sustainable activities with a focus on reversing the loss of environmental resources. Our main objective is to preserve the ecosystem and create a healthy environment. This is done by providing clean drinking water, better sanitation facilities, waste disposal, suitable adaptation to climate change and increase in forest cover. Our purpose is to raise the quality of life of individuals by providing them a clean environment. Under this program, communities are encouraged to highlight pertinent environmental issues and then suggest possible solutions. The Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI) projects are completed through partnerships with donors, and include installation of hand pumps, tube wells, safe drinking water plants, water schemes, construction of link roads, water channels lining, street pavements, latrines, sewerage system, flood bunds, reservoirs and construction of delay action/ check dams. 0 Trees Planted 0 Population has Access to Improved Water Sources 0 Community Physical Infrastructures Completed 0 Population has Access to Basic Sanitation PARTNERSHIPS TRANSITIONING TO Partnerships At the Foundation, we strive to address complex human development challenges which do not fit to demarcated sectors. Impactful and sustainable development requires partnerships between civil society, private sector and the government. Multi-stakeholder partnerships help mobilize and share knowledge, technical expertise, technology and financial resources to achieve sustainable development in the regions which are underdeveloped and subsequently contribute to the national development goals. The Foundation is expanding its portfolio of partnerships though building strategic alliances with both public and private sector entities, membership associations and implementing projects and programs in partnership with institutional donors.
