A unique setting, a hidden garden of Eden where orange and olive groves compete with the ubiquitous and fragrant mediterranean bush for the conquest of this sun-drenched peninsula. The crystal-clear waters of Pellerina creek, part of the marine reserve, are only a 10 minutes stroll away. Masseria Testaferrata has been beautifully restored to offer pristine accommodation for those discerning visitors wanting to break away from traditional hotels or bed & breakfasts. In a way they were the 18th and 19th centuries’ heirs of the Roman villas, providing food supplies and revenue for the land’s master. They constituted a sort of self-sustaining microcosm, with the master’s villa situated at the centre of a complex of farm buildings, barns and other facilities to accommodate workers, animals and tools. The masseria was the landed gentry’s designated countryside getaway from the city’s busy life.
