WELCOME TO THE CTGENWEB

Connecticut, the "Nutmeg State," is one of the thirteen original States. From
east to west it extends about ninety-five miles, from north to south about sixty
miles. It is bounded on the north by Massachusetts, on the east by Rhode Island,
on the south by Long Island Sound, and on the west by New York.

Connecticut has had famous Inventors like: Charles Goodyear who discovered
vulcanized rubber in 1839; Noah Webster who first published his dictionary in
1806, the modern Merriam-Webster dictionary in 1828, and was influential in
establishing the Copyright Act of 1831; Elias Howe who in 1846 invented a
lockstitch design sewing machine, and in 1851 an "Automatic, Continuous Clothing
Closure" (zipper); Eli Whitney received a patent for the cotton gin in 1794.

WHAT'S NEW ?

In August 2022 a new leadership team was put in place. The website was updated
in October to make it easier to find information. Broken links were fixed, and
some new information has been added. We hope this site is useful to your
genealogical research.
