higher quality of life in some areas; and contributes billions of greenbacks to
the economy. Total healthcare spending worldwide was $7.2 trillion in 2013,
accounting for 10.6% of global GDP and forecast to grow at >5% annually to
20181. Increases in spend are being driven in large part by increases in life
expectancy, leading to ageing populations. Health economics is related to value,
behavior competence & effectiveness in the production and consumption of both
health and health care.

Health economists study the functioning of health care systems &
health-affecting behaviors such as drinking, smoking etc.  There are many
sub-categories under health policies like National Healthcare policy, personal
health care policy, Nursing Healthcare policy, pharmaceutical policy,
and Environmental Health and public healthcare policies such as vaccination

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE AND HOSPITAL MEDICINE

Hospital medicine is a kind of practice within internal medicine in which the
clinical focus is caring for hospitalized patients. Internists practicing
hospital medicine are frequently called “hospitalists.” Although not all
hospitalists are required to be internists, the nature of internal medicine
training uniquely makes internists for hospital medicine practice.  As a result,
the vast majority of hospitalists are accomplished in internal medicine, usually
general internal medicine.
The discipline of hospital medicine developed out of the increasing complexity
of patients requiring hospital care and the prerequisite for committed
clinicians to manage their administration. The hospitalist model succeeded the
conventional technique thinking about hospitalized patients, which was commonly
done by clinicians likewise detecting ambulatory patients or with other logical
obligations that restricted their ability to provide the power of care often
required by these patients. By focusing their training on this specific
gathering of patients, hospitalists increase explicit data in handling very ill
patients and are able to provide high-quality, evidence-based, and efficient
patient and family-centred care in hospital settings.

VIRTUAL REALITY VR

Virtual reality (VR) is changing the lives of both patients and doctors. In the
future, you might be able to watch operation procedures as if you were the
surgeon.

Virtual reality is being utilised to train future surgeons as well as to
practise surgeries by actual surgeons. Companies like Osso VR and ImmersiveTouch
have developed and delivered such software programmes, which are currently in
use with promising results. According to a recent Harvard Business Review
research, surgeons who received virtual reality training performed 230 percent
better than those who received traditional training. In addition, the former
were speedier and more precise when executing surgical procedures.

Patients benefit from the technology, which has been shown to be effective in
pain control. Women are being given VR headsets that allow them to see soothing
landscapes to help them cope with labour pain. When patients with
gastrointestinal, cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical pain used virtual
reality to distract them from uncomfortable stimuli, their pain levels
decreased. Patients undergoing surgery reported reduced discomfort and anxiety,
as well as a better overall hospital experience, according to a 2019 pilot
research.

AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented reality varies from virtual reality in two ways: users don't lose
connection with reality, and information is delivered as quickly as feasible.
These distinguishing characteristics allow AR to become a driving force in the
future of medicine, both for healthcare providers and for patients.

In the case of medical practitioners, it may assist medical students better
prepare for real-life surgeries while also allowing surgeons to improve their
skills. Students at Case Western Reserve University are already utilising the
Microsoft HoloLens to study anatomy through the HoloAnatomy app. Medical
students can learn the subject without using real bodies by using this
technology, which gives them access to detailed and precise, but virtual, models
of the human anatomy.

Magic Leap, another promising startup, will bring its slightly distinct mixed
reality headgear to healthcare. To extend its spatial computing technology to
healthcare, Magic Leap has teamed with SyncThink for brain health, XRHealth for
therapeutic platform development, and Brainlab, a German healthcare technology
startup. Although no commercial goods have yet emerged from these
collaborations, we may expect to see them in the healthcare industry in the near
future.

In 2020, the global augmented reality industry was estimated to be worth USD
17.67 billion. From 2021 to 2028, it is predicted to rise at a compound annual
growth rate (CAGR) of 43.8 percent.

HEALTHCARE TRACKERS, WEARABLES AND SENSORS

Because the future of medicine and healthcare is intimately linked to patient
empowerment and individuals taking charge of their own health through
technology, I couldn't leave out health trackers, wearables, and sensors from my
list. They're fantastic tools for learning more about ourselves and regaining
control of our life.

I use the Fitbit Ionic to log my workouts and monitor my sleep. I supplement it
with the Polar H10, which I use with my trainer to fine-tune my workout programs
and identify the optimum exercises for my ability. The Muse headband greatly
supported me in locating the most important elements that I require for a
successful meditation session.

Whether you want to better manage your weight, stress, cognitive abilities, or
overall fitness and energy, there is a device for all of these needs and more!
The beauty of these new technology-driven gadgets is that they truly put
patients at the centre of care. These technologies enable people to take charge
of their health and make more informed decisions by allowing them to monitor
their health at home and communicate the data with their physician remotely.

tricorder, the portable, hand–held device immediately displayed vital signs,
other parameters, and a diagnosis.

With the exponential advancement of healthcare technology, we now live in a
world where similar devices that were once a figment of sci-fi enthusiasts'
imaginations are now a reality! The Viatom CheckMe Pro is a palm-sized device
that can measure ECG, heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, blood
pressure, and other parameters. Other companies are also working on similar
devices, such as the MedWand, which, in addition to measuring multiple vital
parameters, includes a camera for telemedical purposes. Then there's
BioIntelliSense's FDA-cleared BioSticker, which, despite its small size and
thinness, can measure a variety of parameters such as respiratory rate, heart
rate, skin temperature, body position, activity levels, sleep status, gait, and
more.

Although the products currently on the market are a long way from the tricorder,
we will get there soon. High–power microscopes with smartphones, for example,
will be used to analyse swab samples and photos of skin lesions. Sensors could
detect DNA errors as well as antibodies and specific proteins. An electronic
nose, an ultrasonic probe, or almost anything else we have now could be linked
to a smartphone and used to enhance its capabilities.

According to WHO data, around 422 million individuals worldwide were diagnosed
with diabetes in 2014.
During the projected period 2017-2020, the global market for medical tricorders
is expected to grow at a CAGR of roughly 6.7 percent, from USD 2.5 billion in
2016 to USD 5.4 billion in 2023.

GENOME SEQUENCING

Genomic medicine is having an impact in pharmacology, cancer, infectious
illnesses, and other fields. The examination of genes and gene mutations that
cause medical problems is much faster using computers. This not only helps the
medical community understand how diseases develop, but also how to cure or
perhaps eradicate them. Many research initiatives are under underway to explore
how best to treat medical problems such as organ transplant rejection, cystic
fibrosis, and malignancies using personalised medicine.

The US government spent around $2.7 billion on the Human Genome Project, which
is an insanely huge amount of money. Especially when you consider that DNA
sequencing giant Illumina introduced a new equipment in January 2017 that the
firm claims would “one day” be able to order your entire genome for less than
$100. Illumina's CEO stated last year that the company is still working toward
that goal. This means you might be able to get a genetic test for less than the
cost of a normal blood test (which ranges from $10 to $150). Mind-blowing!

A test like this has so much potential! You can learn a lot about your drug
sensitivity, medical issues that are multifactorial or monogenic, and even your
family history. Furthermore, several fields, such as nutrigenomics, a
cross-field of nutrition, dietetics, and genomics, are already utilising the
benefits of genome sequencing. Personalized meals based on genetic codes are
being offered by some companies, such as Habit, a California-based start-up.

The global DNA sequencing market was worth USD 4.7 billion in 2019 and is
predicted to increase at a 11.4 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from
2020 to 2027.

REVOLUTIONIZING DRUG DEVELOPMENT

Currently, the process of developing new drug is time-consuming and costly.
However, methods ranging from artificial intelligence to in silico trials can be
used to improve drug development. Such new technologies and approaches are
already dominating the pharmaceutical landscape and will continue to do so in
the coming years.

Companies such as Turbine, Recursion Pharmaceuticals, and Deep Genomics are
leveraging the power of artificial intelligence to develop new drug candidates
and novel therapeutic solutions in record time and accelerate time to market,
all while saving money and lives.

In silico drug trials are another promising healthcare technology.
Individualized computer simulations are used in the development or regulatory
assessment of a medical product, device, or intervention. While current
technology and biological understanding do not allow for fully simulated
clinical trials, significant progress has been made in this field with
organs-on-a-chip, which are already in use. HumMod, or the “most complete,
mathematical model of human physiology ever created,” is used in a number of
research projects. The Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) Institute has also
created virtual models that are used to study heart diseases and osteoporosis.

NANOTECHNOLOGY

We are at the beginning of the nanomedicine era. Nanoparticles and nanodevices
will soon be used as precise drug delivery systems, cancer treatment tools, and
tiny surgeons.

Researchers from the Max Planck Institute designed scallop-like microbots in
2014 that could literally swim through your bodily fluids. Small, smart pills,
such as the PillCam, are already being used for noninvasive, patient-friendly
colon exams. MIT researchers developed an electronic pill that can be controlled
wirelessly and can relay diagnostic information or release drugs in response to
smartphone commands in late 2018.

Smart patches are another example of how nanotechnology is progressing.
Grapheal, a French company, demonstrated its smart patch at CES 2020, which
allows continuous wound monitoring and its graphene core can even stimulate
wound healing.

As technology advances, we will see more practical applications of
nanotechnology in medicine. Future PillCams could even collect biopsy samples
for further analysis, while remote-controlled capsules could make nano-surgeons
a reality.

ROBOTICS

Robotics is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing fields in healthcare,
with advancements ranging from robot companions to surgical robots to
pharmabotics, disinfectant robots, and exoskeletons.

Europe witnessed first exoskeleton-assisted surgery and a tetraplegic man
capable of controlling an exoskeleton with his brain! There are numerous other
applications for these sci-fi suits, ranging from assisting nurses in lifting
elderly patients to assisting patients with spinal cord injuries.

Robot companions have a place in healthcare as well, to help alleviate
loneliness, treat mental health issues, and even assist children with chronic
illnesses. The Jibo, Pepper, Paro, and Buddy robots are all existing examples.
Some of them even have touch sensors, cameras, and microphones to allow their
owners to interact with them. For example, ikki, an Australian startup, helps
children with chronic illnesses monitor their medications, temperature, and
breathing rate while entertaining them with music and stories.

The global medical robotics market is expected to reach $20 billion by 2023,
indicating tremendous growth in the industry.

3D PRINTING

3D printing has the potential to revolutionise all aspects of healthcare. We can
now print biotissues, artificial limbs, pills, blood vessels, and the list goes
on, and it is likely that we will continue to do so.

Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, developed a
method to 3D-print living skin and blood vessels in November 2019. This
advancement is critical for skin grafts for burn victims. NGOs such as Refugee
Open Ware and Not Impossible, which 3D-print prosthetics for refugees from
war-torn areas, are also assisting patients in need.

This technology is also beneficial to the pharmaceutical industry. Since 2015,
FDA-approved 3D-printed drugs have been available, and researchers are now
working on 3D-printing “polypills.” These contain multiple layers of drugs to
assist patients in adhering to their therapeutic plan. Additionally, dentistry
and orthodontics utilise 3D printing. For healthcare, 3D printing facilitated
prototyping, customization, research, and manufacturing. Surgeons are capable of
recreating patient-specific organs through 3D printing.

THE INTERNET OF MEDICAL THINGS IOMT

For many patients and clinicians, various devices and smartphone apps have
become crucial in tracking and avoiding chronic illnesses. A new Internet of
Medical Things (IoMT) has arisen by integrating IoT development with
telemedicine and telehealth technology. This method makes use of a variety of
wearables, including as ECG and EKG monitors. Other typical medical
measurements, such as skin temperature, glucose level, and blood pressure
readings, can also be taken.

The Internet of Things market will be valued $6.2 trillion by 2025. In 2020, the
healthcare industry will be so reliant on IoT technology that it will account
for 30% of the market share for IoT devices.

Practitioners will have many fascinating alternatives for providing care in a
more effective manner with the emergence of novel delivery systems, such as the
first smart pill approved by the FDA in 2017.

Connectivity issues are still common, as data collection by microcontrollers and
smartphones can be disrupted by a variety of environmental factors. To maintain
better connections, buffering methods on local microcontrollers must become more
robust. Potential security concerns must also be addressed, according to the
Ponemon Institute's Sixth Annual Benchmark Study on Privacy and Security of
Healthcare Data, which found that 89 percent of healthcare operations had
experienced at least one data breach.

BLOCKCHAIN

Blockchain is a trend that has the potential to significantly improve the
healthcare industry in 2020 and beyond. Digital ledgers will allow healthcare
providers to securely distribute transaction records to patients while also
greatly improving data security. The peer-to-peer system of blockchain enables
large numbers of users to securely access a common ledger. There is no need for
a basis of trust between two parties thanks to blockchain. As healthcare
technology advances, portability, security, and accessibility are all desired
goals that blockchain can assist in achieving alongside other trends such as
IoMT and cloud computing.

Interoperability is one of the most significant advantages of blockchain in
healthcare technology. There is greater integrity in the use of healthcare
information when using public-private key methods. As an example, a specialist
providing a consultation could be granted quick access to information via a
secure system shared by all parties. Anonymity can be controlled so that
patients can choose to provide data for research purposes. Finally, this would
be in accordance with HIPAA and GDPR regulations.

Data integrity, security, accessibility, and portability are all high-demand
features during the COVID-19 public health crisis in 2020. Blockchain is an
important technology that can help healthcare providers communicate with
COVID-19 patients efficiently and remotely.

Blockchain enhances transparency and integrity by providing complete visibility
via the digital ledger. All transactions are logged through the blockchain
system if there are concerns about counterfeiting or the supply chain. Because
this is so easily consolidated, it also saves costs that would have been
incurred by manually tracking these transactions.

It remains to be seen how blockchain will be implemented throughout the
industry. In 2017, IBM began a research collaboration with the FDA to test how a
blockchain system could help handle clinical study information, patient records,
and patient wearable data using Watson Health. IBM Watson Health will launch
Digital Health Pass, a blockchain certification solution, on October 13th, 2020.
Companies will be able to conduct private health checks on their employees as a
result of this.

The blockchain market was worth USD 2.01 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow
to USD 69.04 billion by 2027, with a CAGR of 56.1 percent throughout that time.

PRIVACY ISSUES

Privacy is a critical issue in health technology, particularly with regard to
HIPAA compliance in 2020. Although cloud computing can make data storage and
retrieval more efficient, regulations to secure Protected Health Information
(ePHI) are stringent, and compliance can be difficult.

Remote patient communication is critical during the COVID-19 public health
emergency. Some telehealth technologies are not fully HIPAA compliant, which can
jeopardise patient privacy. Although the Department of Health and Human
Services' Office for Civil Rights currently has discretion over how these rules
are enforced, it is still critical that these technologies be as compliant as
possible.

Healthcare providers should ensure that they are still adhering to the
regulations to the best of their abilities, only deviating from the standard
when necessary. Some providers, for example, use non-public facing technologies
such as FaceTime and Skype to communicate with patients.

If a healthcare provider wants to use an existing system to exchange ePHI with
patients via third-party software, they must obtain a business associate
exception from the vendor, which can be time-consuming and difficult. There is
still no guarantee that the third-party programme will completely safeguard
patient data.

Furthermore, it is difficult to keep information secure during remote doctor
calls. ePHI data must be transmitted in structured formats, and these requests
can complicate the process. Patient privacy cannot be guaranteed without HIPAA
compliance. In addition to HIPAA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
must be taken into account in order to secure personal data from European Union
citizens.

TELEMEDICINE

COVID-19 has significantly increased the use of telehealth resources. In April
2020, telehealth technologies replaced in-person visits for 43.5 percent of
Medicare primary care visits. One of the most significant advantages of
telehealth over in-person options is that it eliminates contact between
patients, healthcare providers, and other patients. Wearable devices give
healthcare staff access to real-time patient data while they're still at home.

More crucially, the growth of telehealth appears to be set to continue even
after the pandemic has passed. At the start of the pandemic, 71 percent of
patients in the United States expected telemedicine, and 50 percent had already
used virtual appointments. With telehealth already gaining power in the previous
year, the pandemic provided a significant boost to the industry's growth. By
2026, the telehealth boom is expected to reach $185.6 billion.

Patient adoption is the most crucial factor in telehealth's effectiveness.
Because most patients are comfortable with telemedicine options, the business
clearly has a bright future.

Telemedicine apps give the most comprehensive telehealth services. WebRTC, an
open-source API-based method for connecting web browsers with mobile
applications, is one of the most fundamental technologies powering telemedicine
apps. WebRTC's adaptability is one of the most crucial features that makes it
ideal for telemedicine apps. Transcript and video talk, screen sharing, and file
transfer are all possible with this.

Integrating electronic health records (EHR) into your telemedicine app is
critical. Patients and healthcare providers can access patient medical records
using the app. IVR (Interactive Voice Response) is a feature of the app that
allows it to communicate with patients via digital voice. The combination of
Google Fit and Apple HealthKit provides excellent chances for the app to access
existing health information on a patient's smartphone. All of the following
operations require cloud-based server solutions to work properly.

When developing a telemedicine app, it's critical to think about the features
that should be included. Security, location services, appointment management,
video/audio communication, secure messaging, healthcare provider feedback, visit
history, and wireless testing through wearable integration are some of the most
significant aspects. These aspects are critical when considering the needs of a
telemedicine app, from security to accessibility.

The global telemedicine market is estimated at USD 27.04 billion in 2019 and is
expected to grow at a CAGR of 37.2 percent to USD 171.81 billion by 2026.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Artificial intelligence has the potentiality to completely refurbish healthcare
system. AI algorithms can mine medical records, build treatment plans, and
create medications faster than any other ways in the healthcare ecosystem,
including doctors.
For decades, artificial intelligence has been a key factor in industry. AI has
just started a leading role in medical care in recent times. There is an
estimate that AI systems will be an industry of $6 billion by 2021. A recent
forecast that healthcare is one of the 5 top industries with over 50 use cases
involving IA, and more than $1 billion in start-up equity.
AI technologies could win the battle for us against cancer, AIDS or Ebola – and
could simply lead to healthier individuals living in healthier communities.
What is AI? What is AI?
In the 1950s, artificial intelligence was initially designed to help a computer
or machine think and learn as people do. AI is used by firms such as Facebook
and Google (e.g. who is in a photo) (e.g. providing search suggestions, or
identifying the fastest route to drive). But AI has taken only small steps
towards an extensive and multidimensional opportunity in the healthcare
industry.
AI is proving to be a game-changer in the healthcare industry in a variety of
ways. Below are some examples that are currently being used:
Radiology: In order to automate image analysis and diagnosis, AI solutions are
being developed. This may help show areas of concern for a scan, drive
efficiency and decrease human error for a radiologist. Fully automated solutions
– reading and interpreting a scan automatically without being monitored by human
beings – are also provided that can allow for instant interpretation. Recent
evidence of better tumour detection in MRIs and CTs shows how new possibilities
for cancer prevention have been developed. In the meantime, a US firm has
already received FDA clearance for the analysis and interpretation of cardiac
MRI images of an AI powered platform.

Drug Discovery: New potential therapies are being developed from a broad
database of information on current medicines to tackle critical threats such as
the Ebola virus and be redesigned to identify these threats. This could improve
the efficiency and success of drug development and speed up the process of
marketing new drugs in response to the threats of deadly diseases.

Identification of Patient Risks: AI solutions can provide clinicians with
real-time aid in identifying risk patients by analysing large amounts of
historical patient data. Other recent work has shown that cardiovascular disease
risks can be predicted based purely on the still picture of the retina of a
patient.

Primary care: Many organisations work directly on patient data and provide
advice by means of voice or chat. This provides fast and scalable access to
basic and medical questions. It could help avoid unnecessary trips to the GP,
reduce increasing demand on primary healthcare providers, and provide basic
advice, in a subset of conditions, that populations in remote or under-served
areas would otherwise not be able to access. Although the concept is clear,
these solutions still require extensive independent validation to demonstrate
safety and effectiveness for patients.
McKinsey estimates that using big data, as well as artificial intelligence and
machine learning tools to process it, could result in $100 billion in annual
savings for medicine and pharma.

Healthcare Market Forecast

Healthcare is one of those industries that has never seen ups and downs,
particularly since technology has taken over its progress.
Even throughout the pandemic, technology was important in advancing healthcare
to a higher level.

In 2019, the global home healthcare market was valued at USD 281.8 billion, with
a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.9% predicted from 2020 to 2027. Market
growth is expected to be increased by global population ageing and rising
patient preference for value-based healthcare. In 2019, the World Health
Organization (WHO) estimated that 703 million people aged 65 and up lived in the
world. By 2050, the number of elderly people is expected to increase to 1.5
billion. The ageing population necessitates more patient-centric healthcare
services, which in turn raises demand for healthcare personnel and agencies,
drive market growth.

Medicare is the largest single payer of home healthcare services in the United
States. Medicare accounts for more than 40% of all home health care expenses.

Healthcare Market Overview in USA

The home healthcare market is divided into two components: equipment and
services, wherein the services segment dominated the market with a share of 80%
in 2019. The demand for home healthcare agencies is increasing as the world's
population ages, resulting in better patient outcomes. Furthermore, the rising
frequency of chronic diseases among the elderly is a prominent factor
contributing to market growth.

In 2019, therapeutic devices dominated the equipment market. The growing number
of patients with chronic or severe respiratory infections, urinary infections,
or end-stage renal disease (ESRD) necessitates the use of innovative devices for
treatment. Another important element driving the therapeutic equipment market is
lower service rates for in-home healthcare when compared to hospitals or nursing
homes. End-stage renal diseases (ESRD) affects roughly 750,000 persons in the
United States each year, and 2 million patients worldwide, according to the
University of California, San Francisco

The diagnostics equipment market is expected to develop at a healthy rate over
the projected period, owing to the rising prevalence of diabetes and
cardiovascular illnesses, both of which necessitate constant monitoring.
Furthermore, increasing patient awareness of the screening process and
technological advancements, such as the integration of microfluidics, sensors,
the Internet of Things (IoT), smartphones, and wearables, provide point-of-care
testing to patients and represent a significant opportunity for providing
sensitive, low-cost, rapid, and connected diagnostics.

In 2019, North America dominated the home healthcare industry with a 42% share.
In 2019, the United States had the greatest market share in North America, due
to changing trends towards in-home healthcare from nursing homes, technology
advancements, and the presence of modern medical infrastructure. In addition,
the region's market is being driven by high patient awareness levels, rising
healthcare expenses, and the deployment of a streamlined regulatory framework.
Profits in the U.S. healthcare industry are expected to grow at a 5% annual rate
through 2024, with medtech and healthcare IT experiencing the fastest growth.
Profits in healthcare information technology are expected to rise from 14
billion US dollars in 2019 to 28 billion US dollars in 2024.

Healthcare Market Overview in Japan

Japan is the world's second-largest market for medical devices and healthcare.
Japan is open to innovative and high-quality products and technologies, with
nearly 45% of medical devices imported.

By nearly 180,000 medical facilities, including hospitals and clinics, Japan has
the world's second largest healthcare market. In fiscal FY 2010, national
medical expenditure was 37.4 trillion (approx £249 billion @150 = £1), a 3.9
percent increase over the previous year. This was a record-high in terms of both
level and rate of growth, driven by the implementation of cutting-edge medical
technologies as well as one of the world's fastest ageing populations. As a
result of the ageing population, demand for assistive and care products has
increased. However, the market is already crowded with a wide range of products,
making it extremely difficult for new entrants lacking unique selling points.

The Japanese medical device market is also the world's second largest, valued at
2.4 trillion yen (approx. £16 billion) in 2011, with foreign manufacturers
accounting for 44.4 percent of the products. Japan has long been known as a
high-tech nation, but the market for medical devices is still heavily reliant on
imports.

Healthcare Market Overview in Europe

Despite rising global trade tensions and a sluggish global economic outlook for
2020, the global healthcare market is expected to surpass $2 trillion in 2020.
BREXIT is expected to have a significant impact on the United Kingdom, Europe's
largest digital healthcare market.

In the forecast period of 2020 to 2027, the healthcare IT market is expected to
grow. According to Data Bridge Market Research, the market will be worth USD
150.97 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 15.62 percent during the forecast
period.

The European healthcare market is expected to grow from approximately $2080
billion in 2016 to approximately $2125 billion in 2020. The European healthcare
market is expected to exceed US$ 224 billion by 2022.

The European home healthcare market was worth USD 70.28 billion in 2019 and is
expected to grow at an 8.37 percent CAGR to reach USD 105.04 billion by 2024.

In 2019, Germany had the highest market share in Europe, followed by France.
This is mostly due to rising in-home healthcare spending in the country and
rising demand for the skilled nursing workers to provide in-home care.

Healthcare Market Overview in Australia

The health care and social assistance industry is Australia's largest employer.
This industry employed over 1.7 million people in 2020, with a projected
increase to more than 1.9 million by 2024.

Occupations related to the HLT – Health Training Package account for roughly
one-third of the workforce in Health Care and Social Assistance. The occupations
with the highest proportion of the workforce are Aged and Disabled Carers and
Nursing Support and Personal Care Workers. Both are expected to grow
significantly until 2024, with Aged and Disabled Carers growing by more than
25%. Other occupations in this sector are expected to grow to varying degrees as
well. Welfare Support Workers, for example, are expected to grow by nearly 23%,
Health and Welfare Services Managers by about 19%, and Complementary Health
Therapists by about 15%.

Medical device industry overview: The medical device sector in Australia is
mature, with a well-developed regulatory system. However, in the next years, it
will be one of the slowest-growing economies in the South Pacific area. In 2016,
the market was worth $4 billion, down from $5 billion in 2014. Due to
Australia's sinking currency, market recovery will be delayed in 2019. Despite
its low growth, Australia's ageing population, Federal Budget measures, and
openness to adopt new technology should help to stabilise the market.

Australian market opportunities: Australia's healthcare business is
sophisticated and open to innovative products. A wide range of medical gadgets,
particularly those designed to treat and manage age-related disorders, are in
high demand. Because the Australian market is pushed to cut prices, imported
devices are frequently inventive and cost-effective. In addition, there is a
growing demand for gadgets that help people with disabilities and chronic pain,
as well as those that help them recover faster. The Australian market is highly
accessible from a regulatory aspect for items that already have CE Marking.

Healthcare Market Overview in Middle East

Healthcare prospects are expanding across the Middle East. According to a recent
analysis by the US-UAE Business Council, healthcare spending in the UAE is
forecast to rise from $17 billion in 2017 to $21.3 billion by 2021, with a CAGR
of 8.5 percent predicted between 2018 and 2023 in the UAE Healthcare Sector
Outlook 2023 report.

Aging populations, longer life expectancies, and sedentary lifestyles, all of
which contribute to an increase in obesity, cancer, and diabetes, are driving
demand growth. New modes of care and out-of-hospital services are emerging as a
result of an emphasis on prevention and well-being rather than simply treating
patients. Saudi Arabia, for example, is developing a new healthcare system that
includes primary, community, and secondary care.

Simultaneously, labour challenges, such as a lack of competent clinical staff
and a strong reliance on expatriates, are pushing demand for technology such as
digital health, artificial intelligence, and robots to fill the gap. By 2025,
the region's medical technology market is estimated to be worth $31.6 billion.

The size of the Middle East and Africa Home Healthcare Market was worth USD
21.62 billion in 2020 and estimated to be growing at a CAGR of 9.30%, to reach
USD 33.32 billion by 2025 during the forecast period.

These countries are expected to have a market size of USD 102 billion in 2024
with a CAGR value of 9.2% during the forecast period. Healthcare is the
fastest-growing sector in the UAE, accounting for 79% of the market.
