My partner and I ventured to the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley to look
at a little kitten (who was already in the process of being adopted by the time
we arrived).

If I’m being honest, I was just going through the motions to love up on some
little cuties and leave.

As I strolled past the rows of glass-doored rooms, peering inside and looking
for a kitty to greet, I stopped outside a room with a little tuxedo loaf perched
on a tall cat tree, staring back at me with beautiful, weary green eyes.

I opened the door to say hello and noticed that he had the prettiest little
white paws, folded to purrrfection, and a chunk of his ear was missing.

I walked up to him and asked if I could pet him. He gave me a slow blink before
leaning in for head scratchies.

When he started purring loudly and rolled over to show me his white furry belly,
that’s when I caved. 😅

I learned that he was known as the “neighborhood kitty,” fed here and there but
never truly having a home.

He was surrendered after a kind-hearted soul discovered that their neighbor had
been putting antifreeze in the cat food left out for the strays with hungry
bellies.

Fern is a very shy guy, but man oh man, is he top tier at making biscuits. 🤌

Welcome home, Fern. 🌿Thank you for choosing us. :)

I adopted Josie, a 4-year-old cat, and we have renamed her Mochi! Her
personality has absolutely come to life over this last month and she is just the
sweetest. She loves to cuddle and play tug of war like a dog. She is my soul cat
and adopting her has been the best decision for both of us. 🤍🤍

Meeting Odin has been the best accident ever. He has come out of his shell and
is a completely different dog. He is goofy and so loving. So thankful for Animal
Humane Society for giving me my best friend.

We adopted our sweet baby boy in 2017. KC quickly turned into Captain and since
then there have been several other nicknames, the most common one being Bob, we
have no idea how we got the nickname but it ended up sticking. Captain is the
perfect dog and I don’t know what my family would do without him. He really is
the missing piece in our puzzle. He is so unique because he is mixed with SO
many different breeds. He is the perfect doggo.

My partner and I adopted Kira, who we call Stark, from Animal Humane Society’s
Golden Valley adoption center in mid-September and I wanted to share an update!

We cannot imagine our lives ever existed without her!! We say to each other
every day how lucky we are with her. She loves to cuddle, go on walks, chew her
bones, and lay in the sun. :) She is warming up to toys with squeakers and loves
to whip them around. She’s a bit timid when meeting new people still, but once
she gets a good sniff, she’s ready to play (it helps if the new people come with
treats!!). She is the perfect first addition to our family, we couldn’t be
happier.

I adopted Wally and Bobo (formerly Ballanie and Spot) in March 2022. 2.5-years
later and they are still wheeking and chutting all day long! They love lettuce
and bell peppers and HATE cabbage and kale. If they really don’t want it, these
divas will chatter their teeth to let me know. Bobo is a cuddly teddy bear and
loves licking my fingers. Wally is more reserved but loves a good pet and enjoys
running around on the rug in my room.

I’m so glad I adopted them from the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society. I love
my two guinea pig best friends.

I adopted Bruno (formerly known as Marco) from the Golden Valley adoption center
in November 2019 when he was 10-weeks-old. His 5-year gotcha day is approaching.
I am so grateful I adopted him from Animal Humane Society! Bruno is the most
loving and quirky boy. I’ve loved watching him grow up from the second I took
him home! Thank you, AHS!

My roommates and I adopted Akechi (formerly known as Bennie) from Animal Humane
Society’s Woodbury location on June 7. When we arrived, I already had my eye on
another cat from the website…this changed immediately upon meeting Akechi (too
sweet and cuddly). When we brought him to his new home, we could tell he was so
scared being in another new place, but he would still hangout around us. Even
when we had family over to meet him, from the beginning, he would warm up so
fast. Since then, he has acclimated very well to us and the house. Some of his
favorite activities include sitting in tall places, drinking sink water, rolling
around on the carpet, watching videos of birds, and looking out the windows at
the outdoors (yet he never seems to actually want to go outside). I can’t wait
to continue to spoil him and give him the comfortable life he deserves.

My fiancé and I were on the search for a sweet, sociable kitten who would get
along well with our 2 adopted dogs. We visited the Coon Rapids Animal Humane
Society in hopes to visit with a specific cat, then we saw Toph (Tallulah) in a
separate room off to the side.

She immediately came to the front of her kennel in hopes for pets and we knew
she was the one for us! We put her on an adoption hold, had to wait for her to
shake her sickness, and we were able to pick her up 3-weeks later.

Toph adapted extremely quickly, loves the dogs, and is thriving in her new
home!! She loves her wand toy and will carry it around the house, cuddling with
the dogs, exploring, and playing fetch. Thanks to the amazing staff at Coon
Rapids for their support and care while she was sick! She was worth the wait :)

I was SO missing my 21-year-old grand-kitty who had lived here for 11-years. I
knew I wanted another black cat and about a month after Sega’s passing (another
AHS kitty) I started looking online at the adoption profiles. One kitty caught
my eye and with my daughter along for moral support, I met sweet Louie.

His owner had passed away and I felt immediately drawn to him because he was
older at 9-years and was black in color. He has been here now 2-months and I am
smitten all over again with him. He enjoys all of the windows we have in our
home and is trying to figure out all of the piano students who come and go
during the week. I have a constant “supervisor” observing me throughout the day
as I do housework and exercise in the basement. He is such a sweetheart, and I
am SO glad to have found him just at the time I needed another fur baby to
spoil!
