WHO WE ARE

A non-profit organization established in 1974, Gita Nagari Eco Farm and
Sanctuary is home to the first USDA Certified slaughter-free dairy farm in North
America. Although there are other farms claiming to be slaughter-free and USDA
certified as well, Gita Nagari is the only farm USDA certified whose
slaughter-free practices exceed the average lifespan of cows (+18 years).
Operated by a diverse team of volunteers whose vision is to accelerate global
transformation through compassionate living, the Farm is well equipped to host
your next immersion in nature.


WHY WE DO IT

In a time when environmental degradation, ecological contamination, and animal
exploitation have become the norm, our team has committed itself to providing a
viable alternative. Gita Nagari’s eco-farm and sanctuary is an innovative model
for both planetary and personal sustainability.


HOW WE DO IT

Our core values of balance, education, and personal growth are what drive our
actions. By honoring the sanctity of all life, preserving our environment and
developing meaningful relationships with our community, both local and abroad,
we hope to inspire the much needed change in our world today.

Here at Gita Nagari, we believe that good food is not just about what reaches
the store’s shelf. Real nutrition is as much about the purpose behind a product
as it is about its ingredients. That’s why we uphold the highest standards of
compassion and ethical treatment of any USDA certified farm.



Experience deep nourishment from the milk, yogurt and artfully crafted cheeses
produced by our loving cows in small batches here in rural Pennsylvania, all
coupled with the knowledge that your purchase helps protect the cows of our
sanctuary for their entire lives.

SUMMER CAMPS

As school lets out we invite you to bring your children and their friends for a
personally designed summer camp. Create your own agenda, custom tailor your
activities and we’ll facilitate the experience. Delicious farm fresh food
catered to you, forest exploration, comfortable accommodation, and time with the
cows all contribute to remarkable experiences your group will never forget.


WORKING FARM RETREATS

Gita Nagari doubles as a productive farm and an eco-retreat center. If you’re
looking to reconnect with nature while contributing to a progressive project
which has self-sufficiency as its core principle then look no further! Our
working farm retreats allow you to subsidize guest rates with some practical
service.


MEDITATION RETREATS

Behind the organic farming principles and the lifestyle of compassion practiced
by the residents and volunteers at Gita Nagari lies a deep commitment to
personal growth and spiritual development. We invite you to host your own
spiritual retreat amidst the tranquil atmosphere of the farm as we progress
together.
