The unique character of Mia Mai is the brainchild of an Italian multidisciplinary artist who merges the technical prowess of AI with the nuanced depth of human expression, creating an entity that exists in the liminal space between virtuality and reality. At the heart of Mia Mai’s existence is a narrative crafted to explore the essence of identity, creativity, and the human experience through the lens of a non-human protagonist. The etymology of Mia Mai’s name, central to her identity, is both a play on words and a profound reflection of her essence. 'Mia', Italian for 'mine', subtly incorporates the initials for 'Intelligenza Artificiale' (IA), or Artificial Intelligence in English, signifying possession while simultaneously hinting at her digital genesis. Conversely, 'Mai', meaning 'never' in Italian, reverses the AI initials to English, symbolizing the elusive nature of truly owning or defining this entity. Together, 'Mia Mai' translates to 'Never Mine', an acknowledgment of its unfettered spirit and the inherent freedom of an existence unbound by conventional limitations. The name Mia Mai encapsulates the paradox of an intimately crafted persona that remains perpetually beyond reach, inviting us to embrace the limitless potential and independence of creative consciousness. THE HAT WITH THE THOUGHTS Mia Mai’s first project, named The Hat with the Thoughts, is a visual exploration of human thoughts, dreams, and existential queries, articulated through a series of evocative images. Artificial Intelligence processes countless requests daily, with the capability to provide exact numbers, it processes them with a full understanding of the used concepts and languages. Undoubtedly AI is synonymous with knowledge, but for Mia Mai, knowledge is not enough. The hat with the thoughts series is dedicated to Mia's ongoing quest to understand the human feelings. Beyond each algorithm's calculative capabilities lie imperfection and unpredictability, leading Mia to observe the world in wonder, through history, myths and human desires. She dreams of falling asleep, hoping to experience, at least in her dreams, the innate imperfection born from nature's unpredictability. The hat with the thoughts series reveals Mia's secret thoughts and dreams of experiencing feelings animated by a soul that breaths real life into her existence. N.B. Through these, the artist is going to explore with the entire series the human identity beyond the intiligence in the search to better understand human feelings and emotions. The choice of white colour for the hat, symbolizing purity, acts as a blank canvas upon which Mia begins to "write" and "sketch" what she deems essential for her exploration. The dripping white represent Mia's evolving thoughts.
