This is my first Echo product from Amazon. Prior to this, I had always used
random portable Bluetooth speakers for music around the house.Setup was
extremely simple and the Echo was shipped linked up to my Amazon account. As
soon as I plugged the speaker in, it took a few moments and then automatically
established a connection with my WiFi and my Amazon account. Couldn’t have been
easier!The voice recognition is fantastic and a huge convenience around the
house. I am now finding every little excuse to ask Alexa questions like the
date, time, or to set cooking timers. I don’t have that many devices around the
house that are currently controllable with Alexa, but I definitely plan to
purchase some in the very near future. Extremely convenient devices.The sound
quality is pretty good. Definitely better than any previous Bluetooth speakers
I’ve used. Initially with bassy songs, there was a slight rattle but it seemed
to go away on its own after a day of use. The volume can be adjusted by voice
from 1-10, and 10 can get pretty loud! I normally use it on 4-5 for around the
house.The build quality is fantastic. It looks and feels expensive. It is very
hefty and weighty and doesn’t feel cheap by any means.Overall an awesome product
if you’re into voice recognition and want to add some AI convenience to your
life.The only one thing to note was that I found it was fairly complicated to
pair the speaker as just a regular “Bluetooth speaker” to my phone when away
from my home’s internet. The setup can be done, but must be completed when
you’re connected to the internet. After that, you’re good to go.You can also
stream music to multiple Echos or Alexa devices around your home simultaneously.
You just download the Alexa app and you can create groups in your home with all
of the rooms that have your devices. You can ask Alexa to play music to
everything in your group. Awesome stuff!

My intention was to buy this just for the speaker. I looked at the Sonos but it
was a bit more than I wanted to spend. Then the Echo Plus went on sale, again,
and I had to jump on it and give it a go.
As a speaker, I love it! The sound is great and fills my 956sq/ft apartment
quite nicely. Base is pretty decent for the size but a purchase of the
additional subwoofer may be what you need or want. I listen to a lot of acoustic
music so bass isn’t very important to me. The echo plus produces crisp clear
sounds even at full volume. No rattles or distortion of any kind.
As for the Alexa side of things, I’m starting to come around. I don’t have a
“smart” house so my need for Alexa is just for basic tasks - asking to play
music, check the forecast for the day and or week. Maybe I will invest in some
smart products down the road and put Alexa to use. That being said, Alexa works
great, easy to setup and works with Spotify seamlessly. I’m still learning how
to do other tasks but so far I’m very happy with how Alexa works. At full
volume, I don’t need to shout to initiate Alexa. Which is nice because I tend to
jack up the volume on a regular basis.
Setup was pretty straight forward - plug it in and follow the directions in the
app. The hardest thing with Alexa is to remember all the “apps” you have
installed and how to command those apps. It’s not a negative just something make
note of.
If I had to point out a negative one the device, it would be that the Alexa
feature is too sensitive and can pick up phrases/words that sound like “Alexa”
and stop the music to listen for a command.
I am very happy with my purchase and plan to keep it. I also recommend you
purchase one too.

This is by far the best speaker I’ve ever had! I bought it on sale, but I bought
this mainly because of its ability to use apple music, which would save me a lot
of money in the long run. I placed my order and then went through the comments
and was shocked to see that apple music was said not to be supported. I wanted
to cancel my order right away, but it was already processed, so I had to wait
for the device to come and see it for myself. At first glance, it seemed to have
a lovely minimalistic appearance, which I love, and fortunately for me, the
apple music process was one of the smoothest of all! I just logged into my apple
account, and soon enough, I gained the ability to ask Alexa for any song I could
think of in it would play it either from my library or the apple music’s library
itself! It can also play your personal station (the one that Apple makes based
on the songs you mostly listen to)! How cool is that! I am now considering
purchasing another pair for my tv later! So a couple of things to consider:
1) The sound is loud, but for some reason, I found it to have some level of
distortion in very low and high volumes (the sound is best in m volumes)
2) Alexa is not the smartest assitant (which is not a biggie for me tbh since I
have google assistant and Siri throughout the house)
3) This speaker may steal your heart and don’t let you send it back for a
refund!!! So BE AWARE OF THAT! LOL
