We recently identified an attempt to send a malicious email from an IPART account. This attempt was unsuccessful as IPART’s systems appear to have blocked the email. We are letting you know out of abundance of caution and in the unlikely event that you did receive the email. If you receive, or have received, an email purporting to be from IPART which: * includes a link which asks you to enter login credentials * includes the words ‘Australian Government’ or ‘Australian Taxation Office’ or associated logos please do not open it. This email was not sent by an IPART employee or other party acting for or on behalf of IPART. We apologise in the unlikely event that you have received the email described. If you received the email and have actioned the request we encourage you to review any accounts impacted by the phishing email and take prompt action to review and change your access credentials, if necessary. We are investigating the extent and origins of this attempt and are working with external specialists, including CyberNSW, to ensure all appropriate steps are taken. At this time, it does not appear that any of our regulatory administration systems have been accessed or compromised. However a thorough review has commenced to provide assurance over the integrity of all IPART systems and data. We encourage you to be vigilant in spotting suspicious emails. Please be assured that IPART would never send an email requesting verification of login details. If you are an IPART regulated entity and have any concerns regarding this matter please get in touch with your usual IPART contact. If you have received other suspicious emails purporting to be from IPART please let us know.
