" Where do I even start... I just can't with this one. Statements from the mayor
and council that the city Victoria is safe and the parks are safe are just now
true. Seriously? Is the mayor and council checking out whats really going on
downtown? Is the Earth Flat? Come on. The last year and a half (2020-2021) I
have been assaulted 5 times. Two of the assaults resulted in 911 calls. " The
results: police record the incidents, the culprits (homeless ) are gone and I am
left with the feeling that nobody gives a ....

The crime severity index (CSI), which measures the volume and severity of
police-reported crime, showed Victoria well ahead of any city policed by a
municipal department, including Vancouver. Victoria scored a 168, compared to
Vancouver’s 105 and the B.C. average of 96.Jul. 30, 2021

“When we look at homelessness, I can tell you the issues around multi-unit
temporary housing facilities, sheltering in parks as well as shelters in
general, for the six months that we tracked it, those were well over 50 per cent
of our priority one and priority two calls,”Victoria police spokesperson Const.
Cam MacIntyre said.



VICTORIA — Victoria police chief Del Manak says people have been moving to
Victoria from across the country in hopes of receiving free shelter and supports
promised by the city amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Victoria Police Chief Del Manak pointed to the city’s high index as an indicator
that his officers are stretched and the department lacks resources to
proactively prevent crime in the core.

“We have lost that capacity in Victoria. We are so reactive and responsive,
because I don’t have enough officers to even respond to 911 calls,” Manak said.


“For police chiefs who want to do something, increases in violent crime are
often very localized and occur among specific people and on specific streets—and
the evidence from the report is that when you focus on those, you can produce
reductions in crime.

 “Hot-spotting,” for example—a practice in which police are disproportionately
stationed in areas with higher crime rates—seems to help, and does not just
displace crime into immediately surrounding areas,

TWO BUSINESSES GONE! 50 JOBS GONE! 

Here is the partial cost: Two businesses wiped out and at least 50 jobs gone.
The city and province take over Capital City Centre for a homeless shelter and
White Spot , next door moves out. Both businesses have been in Victoria for over
40 years! By the way, No Public input either.
