TRAILERING AN OLD WOOD RUNABOUT

Two #8-1 3/4" flathead stainless screws per board into PAINTED pressure treated
2x4s (under-cleats) ripped to 1 1/2" x 1 11/16". Found a beauty with the exact
same annular width as the 30 yr old original. I went through a stack at Home
Depot to find a 4x4 for a mast extension. A few 8' - 2" x 4"s will likely get
you'll little project done, which is darned economical.Ĭoncurring (strongly)
here with the narrower (3") boards and suggesting fir 4x4 ripped to get 3/4"
quarter-sawn boards 3 1/2" wide (4 per 4x4 used, and maybe 3 1/4" width after
jointing and resawing. This gives a thinner width board (so you'll need a few
more), but it's the cheapest way to get good looking quarter sawn lumber for
floor slats. You could just by a few 2 x 4's and cut the edges off in 3/4"
thicknesses. I think you enjoy the look and use of "slat" style of floor boards,
much more then a generic hunk of Astroturf coated plywood. If you design the
floor boards in a clever way, so they can be removed, you can use this space as
stowage and also remove them to keep the belly of the beast clean. Both cedar
and pitch pine age beautifully, can accept oil or harder finishes (varnish or
polyurethane), are lighter then plywood, provide good under foot traction (the
whole point) and looks a bunch better then indoor/outdoor carpet, plus will not
rot out whatever the carpet is applied to.

I'd use less wide pieces, so cupping and checking is less an issue, say 3" max
width if you're using one by stock (measures ~3/4" on edge). I like cedar or
pitch pine (unless you can afford teak) for these types of floor board. That
understood, you're likely much better off using a more traditional method, such
as Alan has mentioned. Epoxy coated plywood will tolerate much more abuse and
resist moisture ingress better then anything else. Which would be cheaper, look
better, last longer, feel better underfoot, and give you the greatest sense of
accomplishment? Which job would have made you choose one boat over anpther? You
are the labor, so why not do something labor intensive and cheap on materials?
In your circumstance, lacking the CNC ply cutter and a massive roll of carpet,
template, glue rollers, spray rigs, and jigs, you'll probably spend more time
matching the original construction anyway. To duplicate what they did is only
copying a process meant for assembly lines and so it is material intensive at
best and inferior at worst. Production boats are built as you see them because
they can't afford real wood craftsmen on their assembly line. Even Honduras
would come in under $200.Ĭleat them together underneath and finish with a quart
of Deks Olje or something if speed is an issue. What about taking a paltry third
of your budget and doing something shipshape like a red cedar or fir deck with a
3/16"" space between 1圆 boards? Varnished mahogany sounds outragious, but a 3x5
ft area of Spanish cedar would be maybe $100 for stock and fasteners, and
another $17.00 for a pint of varnish. Yer fighting city hall for no good reason.
I guess this is a renegade answer, but I am going to guess that the reason your
plywood panel failed to begin with has to do with the method of capping off a
potentially wet cavity with relatively unprotected wood and then gluing or
stapling a piece of carpet to it. I hope to get the wood cut tomorrow and start
on the resin/epoxy soon after. Which of these, epoxy or polyesther resin would
be best for a plywood application? Is there an "all in one" I could buy that
would allow me to roll or brush it onto the ply? Would I need hardeners or
activiation chemicals for either of these? It was also suggested that I apply
either an epoxy or polyesther resin to the exterior plywood before screwing it
down to the ribs of the boat. Just wanted to see which would be my best, and
most cost effective route.Ģ. Some say I could go with exterior, others swear by
marine grade at over $100 a sheet, and there's a lot of conflicting advice about
pressure treated in regards to it eating aluminum, warping, and a long drying
time. I was going to go with exterior grade (X) at either 3/4" or 1/2"(if it's
strudy enough to hold a person up there). What is the best kind of plywood for
this application. Much of the wood is now rotten, but I was able to take out the
old carpet to use as a template for the new flooring I'll be putting in this
weekend.ġ. The old floor appears to be 1/2 or 3/4 inch plywood with no resin or
epoxy and was finished with a rubber backed marine carpet. I am in the process
of replacing the front platform floor on my 17 aluminum Sea Nymph.

DOUBLE SIDED DISK MAP

True, Amazon is posting something, and something is better then nothing. Someone
can correct me if I errored in the description of the HGWT problem.

Based on how it all occurred, it sure appeared like someone new what was going
on and wanted to get rid of the stock. Those disks continued to be sold through
Amazon way after people complained of the issue. Many jumped on this deal only
to find out over after a while the disks turned cloudy and stopped playing. I
recall a HGWT set being sold once extremely cheaply while other related sets
maintained normal pricing. And of all the sellers, Amazon would be the one I
would hope to take the extra step.Īlso, I like Amazon but they do straddle a
gray line at times. Does it help a little, sure, but it could have gone a step
futher in many of our opinions. Their warning does nothing to help a first time
buyer or someone that can't read between the lines. That is why many here feel
this warning has no "teeth" to it. But since it obviously does affect some (I
would think enough) as is reported in their own feedback sections, you would
think they would include that in the warning. Kemcha, as you state if it
affected the majority of people you would think they would remove it from their
website. I have as of yet not experienced the problem (not that I may not ever)
and so I won't try to say for certainty which do and which do not. I generally
only see references to it with DVD-18's and not all of them.

I agree it is not all double-sided disks. Retailers do not generally sell
defective merchandise when they are aware that they are defective and Amazon
removes said product from their website when they are aware that it's defective.
If the problem were widespread, then Amazon would simply remove them from being
sold on their website. Not everyone has playback problems with a particular
season set that has these double sided DVD's. Instead of complimenting Amazon
for placing a disclaimer that a particular DVD release is double sided, everyone
is menstrating over the fact that they don't say they have playback problems.

The problem, Leo, is that everyone is equating double sided DVD's with playback
problems and that's an unfair assertion. I stopped having problems with the
playback issue with double sided DVD's when I purchased a Phillips DVD Player
with DIVX playback. Not only that, but, certain DVD manufactured DVD players do
not play certain double sided DVD's. But, I also think they cannot identify
playback problems because different people have different experiences and these
DVD's aren't 100% compatible with every DVD player out there.īecause not all
double sided DVD's have problems and it doesn't involve all double sided DVD's.
While I agree it doesn't specify to address double sided DVD playback problems,
I do think that it's a good step by Amazon to identify which disks are double
sided so that Amazon Customers can make that choice for themselves. It also
serves to allow Amazon's own consumers to decide on whether to buy it or not. I
really think that's a step in the right direction. I think it's a good thing
that Amazon is making this step at identifying the sets that have double sided
DVD's. However, I've experience problems with "The Pretender" DVD sets where-as
others haven't experienced any problems. I've purchased the Knight Rider, Magnum
P.I., Dukes of Hazzard and while some members here have experienced skipping and
"pausing" problems with the double sided disks, I haven't experienced any of
these problems, with these sets that I have mentioned. Not only that, but
different DVD players experience different problems with double sided disks.
Different consumers experience different problems with these double sided disks.
Ockeghem, I think the problem is that they are too infrequent, which may be why
they don't list them in the way you mention.

I do wish on the few bad stretches I didn't get so down and worried and
self-loathing ("why do I always do this to myself?!?!?"), but then again, that's
what makes the highs so high, right?

One of the things that makes a World Series title so great for a fan is you
don't know it's coming. If I could go back in time and tell myself anything,
well, I absolutely wouldn't say a word. As our resident Cubs fan, I experienced
2016. A decent number of you can skip down to the rankings right now (A's fans,
just show yourself out and save the annoyance). To be clear, I'm only talking to
fan bases of teams with a chance to win the World Series.

For a good number of teams heading into this season, we're talking to a fan base
that could be watching a World Series champion. As we get ready to head into the
2023 Major League Baseball season in earnest, I'd like to have a talk about
enjoying the moment.
