VIKAS COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCE & COMMERCE

 

Vikas Night College of Commerce, founded in 1986, emerged from the socially
oriented objective of the Vidya Vikas Education Society. Our mission,
encapsulated in the lines “Light to those in darkness, Extending support to the
helpless, Guidance to the pathless,” ignited a commitment to provide higher
education opportunities to the underprivileged and working-class segments of
society in Mumbai’s central suburbs.

Initially offering Commerce program, the college soon expanded its offerings to
include BA degree. Responding to the evolving needs of the times, it further
extended its scope with  Science and Technology disciplines on a self-financed
basis. Now, as a multidisciplinary institution, Vikas College, a Lead College of
the University of Mumbai, has earned an “A” grade reaccreditation.

The ISO 9001-2015 Certified Educational Institution currently offers a range of
undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. research programs, catering to diverse
career-oriented needs. Besides traditional programs in Commerce, Arts, and
Science, it offers self-financed programs like B.Sc. (IT), B.Sc. (CS), B.Sc.
(Biotechnology), B.M.S., and B.Com. (Accounting and Finance). Postgraduate
options include M.Com., M.Sc., and more, fostering specialization in various
fields.

The college fosters research aptitude through its Ph.D. research center and
aligns with the Central Government’s skill development initiative by offering
vocational programs in Medical Laboratory Technology and Media Production.
Additionally, it provides free skill-based online courses to students.

The college has a  rich library collection, and is also has enriched with modern
infrastructure like seminar halls, auditoriums, gyms, and playgrounds. This
helps students with their studies and also offers them multiple options for fun
activities outside of class. Career counselling sessions and campus recruitment
drives ensure students are well-prepared for their professional journey, with
promising placements in leading organizations.

Aligned with NEP-2020 guidelines, the college aspires to achive autonomy in
higher education, aiming to be a proactive center for excellence. By combining
knowledge with innovation, it endeavors to nurture students from marginalized
backgrounds into empowered individuals contributing to the nation and society’s
development.
