SO, I BOUGHT A KINDLE OASIS. YAYYYYYY!!!!! BUT...
When I unboxed and started using I was left with mixed feelings.Firstly, the
kindle is so small not even the size of a small book. When compared to my iPad,
I feel like "Are you guys joking?" but then when I realize Kindle is just 25% of
what an iPad costs, "Not a joke!"The cardinal reasons why I bought a kindle?1)
It's been long pending since I became a voracious reader in 2019. Reading in
kindle is way much better than reading in iPad or mobile. In dark room, it feels
like nothing. And I can read when I am lying down or upside down, which is quite
difficult with a hard copy book. This purpose is served.2) Mystery/Thriller
Novels recommended by GoodReads daily but are expensive to purchase the hard
copies in Amazon. Yes, I am diligent user of GoodReads Application and I
regularly open it up to track my reading progress and update my virtual shelves.
So, GoodReads pops up many trending novels and books in the home page. When I
check the reviews on them they turn out to be promising and undeniable. Most of
these books are expensive to purchase from Amazon, the hard copies. Hence,
Kindle provides a way or two. Either they are part of Kindle Unlimited or you
could always buy the Kindle version. This purpose is also served.3) After recent
addiction to manga and comics, I thought I can't afford myself to collect all
comics/manga/graphic novel books in hard copy and there were lotta these
available in kindle unlimited subscription. Some comics like Wonder Woman, Green
Lantern, etc which I don't wish to collect I would like to read them online in a
device. And Kindle apps/devices has this unique feature of reading
comics/graphic novels frame by frame. Unfortunately, after purchasing and using
Kindle Oasis, I realized that there is NO COLOURS in any kindles. Ufff!!! My
lack of research! "F** ME!" Who would read a colour comics in black & white in a
colourless kindle which comes with a hefty price? I felt like I was totally
ripped off. Totally disappointed on this note.After swallowing the frog, I
started surfing through the kindle store and I realized that there are a
plethora of popular mangas, even most famous ones like Attack on Titans, Vinland
Saga etc, complete volumes available in Kindle Unlimited subscription. And
reading mangas in kindle is incredibly good just like a paperback. Soon in a few
minutes I downloaded many manga's first volume to my device.I suppose I should
stick to reading comics and colour graphic novels in my iPad/Mac/Mobile and use
Kindle for books and mangas.Over the course of time, eventually, I will get used
to reading in kindle and become selective in purchasing hard copy books similar
to the effect of not going to cinemas frequently after you made a home theatre
setup. The Kindle should drastically reduce my spending on books, which is a
huge relief because I don't have much space for books in my place right now.
That is extremely good.Overall, even though my initial reactions were negative
towards the Kindle Oasis, I started enjoying it upon using. My rediscovery on
reading has taken a new turn. Read some reports that a Colour Kindle might be
coming up and I would get my hands on that immediately when it's up for sale.I
think my social life is gonna take a hit as I would be staying off the grid
thanks to my addictions on manga, comics, graphic novels already and now Kindle

oasis is fully metal. The hand grip provided for this device is quite sturdy for
a stable reading. But please mind very well when you hold. As the metal
finishing of this device may slip from its grip. As the device is much fragile,
so the Device flip cover is a must. I opted for an 8 gb varient. Which is more
than enough for me. As i really don't want to break any records of reading more
than 20000 books in a year. But it's a pure pleasure to read with this device.
Specially at night with warm settings, you won't feel any tiredness in your
eyes. If you are really a night reader like me. If you owned any kindle device
before like kindle basic or paperwhite. You will feel the difference in reading
experience that's for sure. Upgradation of your device really gives you a much
comfortable experience than before. As far as the battery management of this
device is concerned,the company claims it will run for 2weeks in asingle charge.
But as per my own personal experience this claim can be justified only once you
put your device in Airplane mode & to switch of the Auto brightness mode. As
they both drains the battery rapidly. So if coming to the CON factor it lacks
audible features. Audible books is still not allowed in INDIA for any kindle
devices. Secondly this Device is pricey. Specially for 32Gb plus 4G varient. Now
at present kindle has announced a 10 inch display varient called kindle scribe
for 334 dollars in India for around ₹27000 or little more. Hope if it comes in
India by next year than Oasis 4g & other varient may get in an more affordable
price.So Overall as far it's handling, it's ergonomic slim design, it's total
weight distribution , ipx8 waterproof can read and enjoy anywhere in any weather
conditions, dedicated buttons to scroll up & down to turn forward and backward
of pages, customisation of light settings,Flat 7inch slim display & ofcourse the
e-ink technology provides you the glare free reading is one of the most life

Buying an e-reader is a complicated decision with lot of factors to consider. I
have been an e-reader user of a Kindle Voyage for last five years so I will
cover first the reasons why I upgraded from Kindle Voyage:
1. Yellow Light: The Yellow light is a welcome addition to the screen. I do lot
of my reading in the dark when the family is asleep, it may be only 30 minutes
daily but when those add up on a daily basis it means lot of books in a year.
The Yellow light is more comfortable to read in the dark which made me think
about upgrading to Oasis. The reading in dark is far more comfortable as it was
with Voyage.
2. Bigger Display size: The screen is bigger which means lesser page turns and
it also means I can zoom in and still read more content on the screen
3. Screen Quality: Some reviewers have mentioned that there is a certain
sharpness in Kindle Voyage’s display as compared to Oasis. I do not think so, I
think both are at par. There is a certain yellowness in the Oasis display (even
when you put the warmth to 0) while Voyage is more whitish or bright, I read
more in the dark so Oasis is the preferred device
4. Physical Buttons: Although Voyage had the Touch Press buttons on its side, it
did not respond that well, so I would end up tapping on the screen to turn

5. Last reason / Experience: I have been an avid user of Kindle Voyage for
around five years before the screen started to have a couple of lines in it
which meant the display was giving up. Although I could have still used it,
those lines proved a distraction too big to ignore, anyway, Kindle Voyage was a
superb device and had served me well for a long time, it still works but not to
its earlier level. These devices are about the experience and those lines were
hampering it.
Let me break down why I think anybody should buy an e-reader in few sub-headings
1. Return on Investment: Some people consider the ROI (Return on Investment) as
an important metric while doing an electronics purchase that involves a
significant amount. Some people argue this applies for an e-reader as it is a
niche product only to be used for reading. However, according to me e-reader
does not fall into that category. Why? As an e-reader is charging you for the
entire experience of reading which cannot be captured in numbers. If you take
into consideration this calculation, a Kindle Oasis at a price of around 20-25K
would imply reading of at least 100 books on it to justify its cost. If you are
a voracious reader, a number of 100 can be crossed in few years, if not I think
a number of 25-50 is also good enough given the experience this device gives to
a reader.
2. Convenience: This device like any other e-reader will give you an
unimaginable convenience. You are having a storage of your entire personal
library in your Bag without adding any weight to it.
3. Environment Friendly: If you happen to read 50 books on this device you are
saving so many trees. If every person does that then the number of trees that
can be saved by doing it across the world is huge
Summary: I received a product which had some issue with the screen, however,
thanks to Amazon I got a new device and the new one was perfect, so no
complaints with Amazon customer service but do check your device within the
replacement window to ensure you are not getting a faulty device. To summarize
if you are looking for a top notch premium experience of an e-reader, then Oasis
is the only choice. If the budget is a constraint then go for Paperwhite, if the
Paperwhite is expensive for you, then go for the standard Kindle, but do
definitely try an e-reader. Although it takes a bit of time in getting used to
it, you will love it, one of my best gadgets purchase ever and Oasis has taken
it up a notch.

Buying an e-reader is a complicated decision with lot of factors to consider. I
have been an e-reader user of a Kindle Voyage for last five years so I will
cover first the reasons why I upgraded from Kindle Voyage:
1. Yellow Light: The Yellow light is a welcome addition to the screen. I do lot
of my reading in the dark when the family is asleep, it may be only 30 minutes
daily but when those add up on a daily basis it means lot of books in a year.
The Yellow light is more comfortable to read in the dark which made me think
about upgrading to Oasis. The reading in dark is far more comfortable as it was
with Voyage.
2. Bigger Display size: The screen is bigger which means lesser page turns and
it also means I can zoom in and still read more content on the screen
3. Screen Quality: Some reviewers have mentioned that there is a certain
sharpness in Kindle Voyage’s display as compared to Oasis. I do not think so, I
think both are at par. There is a certain yellowness in the Oasis display (even
when you put the warmth to 0) while Voyage is more whitish or bright, I read
more in the dark so Oasis is the preferred device
4. Physical Buttons: Although Voyage had the Touch Press buttons on its side, it
did not respond that well, so I would end up tapping on the screen to turn
