Welcome to Timeless Poem

In the early 1900s, my great-grandmother, Ruth, embarked on a captivating
literary journey. Born in November 1894 in Iowa and departing from this world in
1950 at the age of 55, Ruth dedicated her short yet vibrant life to curating a
remarkable collection of poems and short stories. With meticulous care, she
clipped these literary gems from newspapers, preserving them in an antique
ledger book dating back to 1901.

The ledger, now in my possession, is a testament to Ruth’s passion for
literature. A glimpse into her life is provided by the handwritten notes within,
including the poignant inscription: “Ruth Horner Toronto, SD, October 1912.” At
that time, she was approximately 18 years old, just three years before her
marriage.

This cherished book unfolds like a literary tapestry, weaving together verses
penned by both celebrated authors and local talents. The attribution of some
remains a mystery, and the publication dates are uncertain. Fueled by a profound
sense of urgency, I am compelled to share these meticulously preserved pieces
with the world. They offer not only a glimpse into the voices of the past but
also an exploration of the rich tapestry of renowned and lesser-known literary
contributors.
