We had a great day! 20+ trout in the boat today. Browns, Rainbows, and a couple of wild rainbows as a bonus. Matt was extremely knowledgeable about the river, and knew about every ledge, hole, and shelf on the Toccoa. Kaleb was at the shop on Sunday to get us ready, and the shop has absolutely everything you need for a great day on the water. We would absolutely do it again! A bit pricey for a beginner fly fisherman but it is what it is. Dave Keyes 2024-04-05 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These guys are the best. Both Monroe and Kyle did a great job putting us on fish in some tough cold front conditions. My two grandsons had never touched a fly rod and both landed super nice rainbows. They’re hooked on fly fishing now and can’t wait to get back on the water. We will definitely use Cohutta again. They made it very easy to make arrangements and communicated every step of the way. A great bunch of guys who love to fish and teach others the right way to do it. Read more Been Keene 2024-02-29 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve had the pleasure to fish with Matt Morrison on several occasions. Matt is a skilled fisherman, and his knowledge of fly fishing is clear through his results. He’s a great instructor and educator. He’s a fun dude too. All around fishy guy. Read more Paul Haynes 2024-01-07 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I bought a home on the Toccoa last year and wasn't really in to fishing at that time. Went in to Cohutta Fishing company out of curiosity, saw they had a guide service and I booked a trip. Cole came to my house and gave me a fly fishing 101. Showed me different flies, knots, casting techniques, how to read the water, where to fish, and was honestly such a good dude to hang out with for 4 hours on the water and I had a blast. I did a private water wading trip on a creek with Matt Morrison a couple of months later and it was the same deal, he taught me some new stuff associated with creek fishing and got me on some awesome fish including a few really nice rainbows. He was super cool to hang out with and I had a great time. A few months after that, I did a float trip with Austin and it was the same deal. He was super knowledgeable, a ton of fun, and got me on a really nice brown trout that made my day. About 5 minutes later, I hooked up with my personal best brown trout and landed it after a 10 minute fight. We got to throw streamers at the beginning, dry dropper rigs, and then dry flies a little later. One of the most memorable days on the water I've ever had. Aside from guiding, I go in to the shop about once a month and Caleb helps me out with the flies that are working well, gives me tips on other water to check out, and answers any question that I might have. He's super knowledgeable and is super cool to chat with. He also found me a guide with pretty short notice who had a scheduled day off (Austin, from the trip above) which was freaking awesome. The shop also has a ton of gear and apparel that is always being refreshed. I see a different hat design every time I go in that I have to have, so I normally end up leaving with $100 in flies and a hat or two lol. If you've read to this point, I think it goes without saying, you can't go wrong with this shop or their guides. Whoever does the hiring places a ton of emphasis on character and culture fit and it shows. The staff treats everyone so damn well regardless of their knowledge or skill level and I can't recommend them enough. But Cohutta Fishing Co has made a name for itself as a highly professional shop and guide service over the years. I’ve been in shops all over the country and fished with many guides, Cohutta sets the standard for the southeast. Drew and his team have every base covered from knowledge and gear, but also have a unique brand that supports making memories for beginners and experts alike.
