The facility looks a little tired. The bedroom was large and relatively clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool looked clean. We were checked into a room that has very strong cigarette smell. However, the staff very quickly moved us to another room after we alerted them. The breakfast was below average. Good enough to get a little bit of food in us. The restaurant staff cleared the food 15 minutes before the closing time and didn't give any warning. There's nothing feel bad for me..the only thing is it will take some stairs to the hotel, but there's lift provided and you may inform the staff if you need it. Luckily he had bought a Singtel data card at the airport. Else he would not be able to communicate with us at all, upon check-in. For a 3 star hotel, certainly exceeded expectations. Decent size rooms and when we had a problem with ours we were moved to another one immediately. It is one of the older, smaller hotels and therefore less impersonal than the grander ones. When our return flight was delayed by 14 hours, the hotel let us extend our stay for the extra night and in the same room. When we visit our family again next year we will definitely stay at the VIP hotel . Closest MRT station is Newton which is very convenient. Newton Food Court nearby. Has a swimming pool. The room smelled moisture. Basic breakfast, lack some choice. Stairs to access the hotel, not convenient with a baby stroller. A bit far from MRT walking, shuttle bus is nice, but would be better with extended hours and if it could also pick us up from the MRT, that would be perfect.
